The best way to lose weight, which I understand to be you current concern at this point in time, is to eat a lot of fiber, which means that, yes you are going to eat a lot of vegetables,oatmeal and fruits. Yeah, it's a bummer! I say some families hand down money, others bad genetics. I've got them too, history of diabetes, high chol, heart attacks, and high B/P. So, my doc told me to watch myself also a year ago. I've managed to loose around 60 lbs. Hard work and not alot of fun, but I do think I look better! I didn't 'diet' per say. I just quit all 'empty' carbs. I cut my portion sizes down too, cause I realized I liked a full plate. I eat alot of almonds, they fill me up and are healthy for you-as long as they are the natrural kind. I excercise every day off. So, no potatoes, cookies, or other junk food. Have had only 1 fast food burger in the last year, no white bread - occasionally I'll have that really thin wheat bread toasted. Nothing 'white' basically. I think those 2 docs on Ohpra follow the same way. They have a book' "You, on a diet." I think that's the name of it. Anyway, good luck. I think feeling deprived from food for me is better than feeling deprived from ill affects of poor health. Good luck
