Sounds like the kid runs the family. Put him in bed, close the door and stop letting him rule the roost. He'll get over it in 3 nights.

Well, you set the rule a long time ago that it was OK for him to be there next to you? Now is the time that you get to pay for that mistake. You have to be firm and it may take a week or even two, but you have to force him to sleep in his room, and in his own bed. If he has a bad day for two or three weeks, then you have to just deal with it. He will get used to it and you will get through it all. Just takes time and the courage to see it through without quiting or giving in, even giving in one night ruins all the good nights you did not give in. Get ready to rumble and getter done.

Years ago, my 5 yr daughter wouldn't sleep in her room but ours instead. Ended up making a deal with her. I set up a small tent in our room that she found a lot of fun sleeping in with her animals. The deal was she would move to her room when she turned 6, which was "very old" for her, and she kept her end of the deal.
We never found out what her issues were. She wanted to be around us, I suppose.

What age is your son? Please do NOT allow him to rule your household. If you're unable to show him the way to a restful nite in his own bed, PLEASE seek assistance from your physician.
