It is extremely unlikely that a woman would develop breast cancer as a teenager. According to one website, there is an "extraordinarily low" possibility of a teenager getting breast cancer. In fact, breast cancer among women below the age of 35 is very uncommon, so I hope that is a reassuring thing to read.

Yes. It is rare but teenagers and children can have breast cancer or they can have a secondary cancer or metastasis to the breast. Often a mass or lump discovered in children and teens are benign, however upon exam the lesions can be found to be pre-cancerous or malignant. If you have any unusual lumps or bumps, doubts or questions please see your doctor for an evaluation and possible biopsy.

The following types of breast cancer can develop in children and/or teenagers:

1. Juvenile Secretory Carcinoma - a slow growing tumor.

2. Cystosarcoma Phylloides - a rapidly growing tumor that can stretch the breast and tissue (can be pre-cancerous)

3. Childhood Lymphoma can spred to the breast tissue and armpit area.

4. Other tumors of childhood may also spred to the breast tissue.

Breast cancer in children and adolescents is rare, but it can happen. Only a doctor can properly diagnosis cancer.

It is possible, but not very common. Pretty rare at this age. It would then be probably high heriditary to cause it at such a young age.

I once saw a program to do self montly checks. Because of a lot of women have lumpy breast, I lived in fear of thinking that I might have had breast cancer. After waiting in such fear for a while, I finaly told my parents. I then seen a female doctor assistant. She explained to me about how it is very normal for people to have lumpy feeling breast. She stated that they can be this way or more tender with the more intake of caffine (pop, tea, coffee). She stated that still you should get familiar with doing your own monthly breast checks and you will get used to how your body feels. That way if you do notice changes then to contact your doctor.

Possible but more likely a swollen lymph node, from an infection. Wouldn't worry too much at 16, but keep an eye on it, and if it's not normal in a couple weeks, or gets worse, see a doctor. Best of luck, sweetie.
