2 pupies survived and 1 was stillborn and 1 died a day after it was born. She now has an infection and has been given antibiotics and will be spayed. I may be wrong but in my opinion, I would have thought the vet would have done something the first couple of days. We know she didn,t have a chance to eat them, as she wasn't alone. The vet helped deliver some of the pups and didn'[t seem to concerned about the placenta. Just wondering about others experience with this. The 2 surviving puppies are real cute, they look just like yorki terriers(1 male, 1 female). The 2 that didn't make it were white with liver colored large spots(cute looking also and were both males). The father is a maltese yorki mix.

Normally when a dog has puppies you very rarely see the placenta. Each puppy is in a sac, and with a normal delivery those are disposed of by the mother. And then with the delivery of the last puppy there is a very thin slimy clear substance that comes out. That is the Placenta.
After delivery the female can spot, and have a bloody discharge for up to three weeks after. Usually while or after she is nursing. The puppies nursing will actually cause contractions of the uterus

They must have separated while still in her uterus. Your sister is lucky that any of the puppies survived and that her bit ch survived too. Vet's are dumb like that, most have never even seen a real delivery. Just one of MANY reasons breeding should be left to us professionals.

Are you sure she didn't pass the placenta? It is normal and healthy for the mother to eat the placenta immediately after passing it.........you may have missed it.

why on earth did this mixed breed mutt get allowed to breed..... good for having her spayed and thank your lucky stars that the mom didn't die during this experience,,, you must remember that a YORKIE/POODLE mix is a mixed breed dog made by Inferior Yorkie and and Inferier poodle,,,, that is why these dogs were not of breeding quality for their own breeding program.........
