Were they not raised that way? I love my father. But, if it were not for my mother, I would be cold and heartless like my father. (I think)

Some people are so badly scarred by life and things that have happened to them that they react by shutting down their emotions. They don't want to get hurt any more, so they go the opposite direction and become hardened.
And some people just really don't give a rat's rump about others. The only thing that they care about is themselves, and if you get in their way, they'll run over you without a second thought.
If we're talking about the same two people here in R&S (and I bet we are), one of them comes across as a guy who was hurt at some point and wants nothing to do with God or Christianity. He's angry and has shut down completely.
The other one acts like the north end of a southbound horse. I think he just likes to hurt people and be as nasty as he can because it's safe to do it here. . .nobody can punch his lights out. Typical playground bully who has to make up for his own deficiencies by hurting others.
They both need prayer and the love of Christ in their hearts.

well, there are a lot of reasons. It could be due to their upbringing, yeah.
I had a different reason for being a heartless SOB: I was a liar. Holding on to all the illusions i attempted to spin for my whole life gave me no room for a conscience, so i was a heartless SOB. I would do whatever it took to get ahead with no regard for anything. People's emotions? People's lives, their wellbeing? they meant nothing. As long as i could get ahead. so i kept lying; it was a self defeating cycle partially fuelled by drugs and alcohol, but not entirely.
I am sorry that you have people in your life that are that person.

I know what you mean.... I don't think there is an explenation that can justify the actions of those type of people---for example- child rapist... They are sick minded and cold hearted.. they all need to get put to death. Thats the only solution for these type of heartless people.
Just remember that justice comes sooner or later when you meet these cold hearted people...may it be by the law of man, nature god , karma, or universe...justice will always privale.

They where raised poorly or not at all by any one that loves.They may not love themselves so how can they love others.Just like why are some dogs bad.May be no one was kind to them or showed them any discipline.They may live in a neighborhood where every one fights or just survives by fighting and there is no respect and some times it may be in the genes.

Well, it all depends on how you see that person. You may think they are cold and heartless, but some other people-maybe not too many- may think well of that person.

Usually you find out that something went terribly wrong in their childhood, or maybe some just never developed a sense of empathy or sympathy for others. I try to find pity for them and that helps to deal with it.

because being cold and heartless is much easier than being warm and loving, just to have your heart broken again.
people suck, and after enough people hurting you it is simply easier to not allow them to be close to you. that way when they interrupt your life by dieing or by having sex with your best friend or something like that you really have no reason to care. thus no more hurt and pain.

We should not get upset and loose our peace. Try to love even that person,and keep your peace. Maybe that person will change to be a better person. We are all learning and no one is perfect,save He who died for us,Jesus.
