Proteins, in the sense that your body has to work the hardest in order to be able to break them down and convert them into energy. Eating a high protein meal stimulates your metabolism more than eating a high carbohydrate meal.

milk & yogurt commercials say they are good for slimming down. :) Apples & celery, smaller portions - more smaller meals instead of couple big ones.... Exercising -not a food but good to kick up the metabolism. Resist long sedentary periods before the tv as that will make your metabolism drop. Or at least try to do something while you are watching. :)

Blueberries, raspberries, raisins, fish, fish oil supplement, cranberries, cantaloupe, spinach, alfalfa sprouts, some ginger, some curry, some red wine.
Some cole slaw. A carrot blended with milk about three times a week (daily for women).
It is also good to know which foods are BAD for you metabolism:
Too much sugar, too much animal fat, too much fried food, too much potato chips and fries.
Too much chocolate cake and cookies.
Dr. Whatzit, the one from Wesconsin, says the best margarine is NO MARGARINE.
I think Raisin Bran, oatmeal and barley are good to include in your diet, too.
Broccoli sprouts! Yeah, man, really good for you!
Finally, an Apple a Day keeps the Doctor Away.
Raspberry Applesauce!
Red, Yellow and Green Peppers!
Walnuts!
Hummus!
Olive Oil!
Yeah, boy, these are a few of the REALLY GOOD ones.

It's a matter of eating healthy and staying in shape for your metabolism to rise. As long as you know what foods are healthy. IF you don't exercise, your body will get slower.

Metabolism is genetically inherited and can't be helped or hurt, but some foods can be broken down easier. Avoid trans-fat, and high calorie foods. According to exercise, your metabolism can speed up or slow down, which can be good, or bad.
