It usually takes about 3 days for you to see
relief from the penicillin, but of course--
it is extremely important that you take all
of it. The vicodin is for pain and you must
have had a lot of pain because this is a
strong drug. Vicodin also has some side
effects that can make certain people feel
worse. See if you can continue on with
the penicillin only until it's all used up.
Of course, if the pain is too severe take a
vicodin. You don't have to use up all of
the vicodin. Take your temp and see if
it's down to normal yet. If so, the penicillin
has kicked in.

the vicodin is for pain, nothing more. The penicilin is an antibiotic and takes 48 hours to really be in your system to start feeling an improvement.I am assuming you are either taking one tablet 3 or 4 times a day. I also believe it is 500 mg. If not better by the third day of medication, call your dr and tell him it is not working. He will then put you on a different antibiotic.

Maybe at night you are breathing through your mouth only and with the furnace on, (since this is very cold weather we are having) your throat is drying out. Also phlegm isn't being pulled down your throat by gravity, so accumulates in your throat and windpipe. It does take awhile for pills to take affect, but when they do, it should all drain or you will be able to cough it up. 5 doses in 3 days doesn't sound like you are taking them like you should. Aren't you suppose to take them 3 to 4 times a day? If you ARE missing doses your not fighting it very good, it may take a lot longer to get rid of.

It always happens. With all those antibiotics going inside you - you must be well in the path to recovery. But with cough and sore throat - the worse will be at night and during the recovery period. Even by the time you get this message you may be better. Gargle with salt water or mouthwash. Try out some home remedies - I found this website very useful. - http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Perhaps this drug isn't working for you. Phone a pharmacist and ask if this can happen with this drug. If they don't know, keep gargling with salt water and using Chloraseptic to numb the pain until you can talk to your doctor.

Get your throat blessed by Father Raymund Stack. It's the feast
