Your claim that the Bible clearly states anything is an interesting one. When considering that there are as many interpretations of various Bible passages as there are people, I find it hard to believe that it predicted precisely how man will destroy the planet, and/or a meteor is coming.
There have been people pointing to signs and facts that the world is ending for centuries.
I've also read predictions how we were going to run out of oil by now.
Environmentalists often exagerate their claims because those who don't want to be regulated often exagerate their claims. You jave to present a worst case if you want to be met in the realistic middle.
Mankind has proven to be very adaptable. This planet has proven to be very adaptable. It can handle a lot more stress then we generally give it credit for.
Neccessity is the mother of invention. Or, if you;d prefer another way of putting it....I'll use Marx based Crises theory. When the poopy hits the wind blower...people start acting.
I do not think for a moment that humanity is a permanent thing. Other species and life forms have died out. We probably will too. There is nothing I can do about this.
Perhaps some day we'll colonize the stars and planets.......1000 years ago someone would have thought a rocket ship was God. Who knows what will happen by the end of the next decade...let alone a hundred years from now. Human technology is accelerating at a faster rate then other. How many people would have understood the internet....or an Ipod....in 1970? That was only 37 years ago.
Because not believing does not supply hope of or in an afterlife does not justify believing merely because it provides comfort. Believing that I will win a million dollars in a lottery is comforting...we'll wait and see if that happens.

I do have faith, just not in your God. Part of the reason certain humans have "brought this planet to shambles" is because they think like you do, that it's predestined to be this way and that they are going to get a "new Earth". I really hate to break it to you, but this is the only Earth we have. I cope pretty well because unlike some I am actually trying to do something to make this world a better place. What are you doing?

it is the mindset of the Abrihamic religions that has brought this world to shambles in less than 2000 years.
before that men lived with the land. they lived spiritual lives and lived in harmony with the land.
in 1600 years the Abrihamic mentality of greed and destruction ruined europe. and in the last 400 it has turned America into a cesspool of pollution and greed.
as for the meteor, scientists have also said that we can divert it's course easily enough, that is if (and it is a big IF) it comes close enough to effect us. it is said to be on a path that will miss us by 20 thousand light years, (a cosmic scratch away) but they predicted these planet killers before. and not a single one yet.
personally i am looking for the rapture. god will come and take the
Christians, Jews, And Muslims, as is their belief. and the reas of us will be left in peace again.
God has no power over people that do not worship him. and Satan had no domain over people that do not believe in him.
i mean this as a straight answer.

It is not common knowledge that the world will no longer support life in one hundred years. There is a misconception amongst many people that it will, but no explanation that gives any proofs of how or why.
The propaganda that religious leaders use to unite the followers of religion is mostly what is the cause of this, that and an irrational fear of the end of the world.
I am looking to the future with the highest of hopes, I am dealing with my outlook of the future in a great way. Technology will continue to accelerate us to a much greater lifestyle.

I cope with life by loving life and earth and all life on earth. I choose to be happy and not spend my living days freaking out about my death. It will happen when it happens..until then I will live my life to the fullest of my capabilities. You are correct that we humans are not treating this earth very well, and I can only hope that the people and the governments of this earth will work together to protect mother Earth. As far as a meteor on track to hit Earth in 30 years or so....that's a new one on me! I wonder where you get your information......but if one does.....I honestly do wish you and your Christian brothers and sisters happiness in your garden paradise. I can only conclude that I will join the rest of the human race.

Simple. We're alive, we go through our day by day as we always have. Why worry about the end if we cannot stop it? It's the same approach they have to life in general. If we can stop the meteor, then they will, otherwise well, we'll have a fun ride to the end, won't we?
And some people are survivors, they don't worry about the whole of mankind but just themselves and their close friends/family. They'll strive to survive ANYTHING. So relax, if you're on the Prophecy side of the fence, enjoy your Heaven and Ambrosia, if you're not, relax, and enjoy the ride to the end.

Mankind will get along just as it has for the past several hundred thousand years: by applying intelligence (not faith) to deal with the problems. And the notion that the species can survive only another hundred years is preposterous. We have far more in the way of technological tools to deal with problems now than ever before, and as long as we apply reason to them, we will not only survive, we will prevail. As for faith, it is useless -- indeed, it is the ultimate evil. Believers may have learning, but they do not have knowledge: knowledge derives from evidence, not mythology.

Your a real Albert Einstein I know But I don't believe a word you have to say! there is no more mention of this in the bible than in Nostradamuses musings of no predictive acccount . you the erudite harbinger of the future have all the vision but no solutions other than primitive superstious manuscripts ...why is this ?
Anytime I see the impervious bible used as a premise the skeptic and the cynic come to the foreground and ask for a real scientific analysis as the history channel or discovery channel that seem to disagree with you as well.so now god has upgraded the doomsday to 2030 well isn't that special.
Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.

We are no where near the point of destroying the planet. Sure, the air may not be as clean as we want it to be, but we have made strides to improve what damage we have caused. And as for that asteroid you are talking about....
http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/air_space/4201569.html
apparently, it has almost no chance of hitting us. If the path of the asteroid does happen to be aimed our way (.3% of happening or so) then we have current technology that could destroy/move the asteroid.
Have fun hidden in a bunker for the rest of your life while the rest of us live.
