i own a repair shop, and that's not really a good deal because a good used engine is going to cost that much or more for the car,and that may not be all it needs either, you probably would wind up with more in this car than you would want to have,i occasionally buy a few to fix up and sell but i think even i would pass on this one,it could wind up costing you a small fortune to get it drivable again, its something to think about,id try pricing a few engines for it before i thought about it any more, good luck,i hope this help,s.

Don't buy it and shop around.Celicas went down hill in 1985 when the whole car changed in design. '84 and earlier were rearwheel drive and offered the 22R hemi-head in the GT and the 22R wedge head in the ST and were far more superior in design because the designers had performance and relibility in mind.Unless your broke, try to stay away from anything built between 1985-1995.Those were hard years for automotive design and many inferior parts were used. There's a spanish saying that goes" Lo barato sale caro" which means that something cheap always turns out to be expesive in the long run. Don't get yourself caught up in trying to polish a terd.

rip-off rip-off rip-off it truly is fraud i comprehend this because i have considered this many cases in the previous. the seller posts an noticeably "positive" ad with a lot of bright %. and he tells you the automobile is perfect project, faultless, etc. note how he doesnt say some thing undesirable about the automobile, and he continually makes use of ridiculous words and comments to praise the automobile. His purpose is to attempt to make you take advantage of a third celebration escrow provider so that you'll twine funds to him. reality is, you'll under no circumstances see the automobile or the money again. you may as nicely e mail the guy to make certain for youself - he's gonna tell some stupid tale that "oh, i'm no longer interior the states on the instantaneous reason I only moved although the automobile continues to be interior the states and that i will deliver it to you at no fee" all that bullshit trust its fraud and that i hate those that attempt this.

A blown rod is very costly to repair and if your going to change one, you may as well change them all. Along with the rods while you have the motor taken apart there are several other parts that may be just as worn do to milage should be replaced as well. Again it may and can be costly

the car is junk, a new engine will have to be put in it... if he "blew a rod" then it either had a bad oil leak, or never took care of it. spend your money on something else....

it depends on what you want the car for.
if it is your sole means of transport and you need it now, I would look for a running vehicle.
if the car is in good shape other than the engine, I would look around for a used engine and see if its worth it.
