I had a colonoscopy and egd last Friday and the determined that I have an ulcer sitting right on top of my stomach. Every time I eat or drink I get so sick and bloated I can't think straight. The pain is getting worse even though I am on several meds. I have a big pocket of gas under my breast and stomach pains so unbearable right after I eat. Can you help me with some tips? I have totally lost my appetite for any food, and even water affects me the same way. This has been going on for 2 months and I am now in a pain syndrome.

I take the generic gas-X (from walmart) and Protonix (from the doctor) and it works just great. I am in no pain and I am sure this will work for you, but you need to talk to your doctor about this.

The worry not my friend because you are perfectly curable. Stomach ulcers are not caused by excess acidity or the stomach eating itself or even stress as previously believed.

The problem is an organism that can be treated with high powered antibiotics. If it was discovered last friday my question would be why haven't you been started on the course of antibiotics to clear this up. The organism that causes ulcers was discovered over a year ago by Australian researchers at Minash Univerity and the treatment has been availble almost since the day they released their data. If your doctors are ignorant of this fact then enlighten them as you need to suffer no longer now there is a simple cure.

In the meantine, moderate some of the foods you eat that produce excess gas which will give you discomfort. You should have been given a sheet of dietry changes to adopt whilst the ulcer is healing. get back your doctor and make sure you get the correct treatment and advice for this now less threatening condition

I feel your pain. You have been in the right place...to the dr! I hope he has you on Nexuim,or the purple pill that heals erosions. You have " the woman's ulcer." I have one too and I can't eat black pepper,at all. Go to the dr. again and tell him/her about the ulcer pain. he has to do something!! Maybe he will do surgery, where they take out the ulcers. That may be what you need. Tell the dr!!! Pain is never ok to " just live with!"

Shelty K and J are right. You should talk to your doctor about getting a strong antibiotic. Tums/Zantac might help a bit in the meantime.

Check out antibiotics. Ulcers are caused often by Helicobacter pylori, or H. pylori.

Nexium and fiber helps me. Well, I eventually stopped the nexium but I still have to eat a lot of fiber to keep it at bay. Good luck.
