The HSV-1 virus develops cold sores/fever blisters. People can be exposed to HSV-1 from drinking someone else's drink, used forks, using someone's lipsticks, or lip contact with someone which is carrying HSV-1. The swollen red bumps are usually fairly sensitive blisters which may turn up near the mouth, or possibly the interior of your mouth or nostril, elsewhere on your face, or elsewhere on your skin.
Cold sores can appear because of amplified stress, the common cold, a fever, cold conditions, certain foods, and also an excessive amount of direct sun light. The location could begin to itch, burn, tingle, and next the blister could show up. The sore can dry up and establish a yellow-colored crusting. They will last from 7 to fourteen days. An individual could try to hide the cold sore using foundation, but this typically will make the cold sore worse.
To get rid of them, a person might attempt covering them with a cold sore special lotion, make use of chapstick with sun screen, dab hydrogen peroxide, take echinacea, vitamins C as well as E, and also completely staying away from coming in contact with it. Through adopting some lifestyle changes, it can be attainable to stop cold sores as well as keep them from happening again.

You need an anti-microbial herb....
This is what I do and recommend -
You can EASILY never have to deal with another horrible, awful, nasty cold-sore for the rest of your life!!
I got them every winter my whole life until 3 years ago (I'm 36 now) and they were the BANE of my existence...the whole process took weeks to heal and would leave a scar for at least 2 months sometimes!
I was reading a message board on www.curezone.org and discovered the PERFECT remedy for both healing them and preventing them completely:
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT
http://curezone.com/foods/oliveleaf.html...
So, I buy the liquid tincture by "HerbPharm" and it has not failed me ONCE...Whenever I'm feeling drained, tired, stressed, or get that tingly feeling on my lip, I just load up on this stuff.
This is the one I buy: http://www.myvitanet.com/olleafex1ozh.ht...
You can also get Olive Leaf at Whole Foods Market, and other natural food stores.
Very cheap.
The first time I tried it, I was actually halfway into a major eruption and I drank a bunch of the extract in some water.
AS I WAS DRINKING the stuff down, I could feel the swelling on my lip shrinking...I was in such shock--I ran to the mirror--it was shrinking before my eyes and within ten minutes my lip had returned to NORMAL...I began kissing the bottle of Olive Leaf...yeah, I really did!!
I had tried everything in the past...I can't begin to tell you the WARS I had with these evil sores!
Well, I can finally say: I WON !!!

You could try non-prescription Abreva that they show in the commercials if you can find it. If not or if you're looking more for a natural home remedy, i've read that you could use warm teabags, but you have to hold it on for about a half hour at a time which might be a bit of a pain (it's supposed to take it away in 5 days, though), so if you can, you're probably better trying to find some Abreva or something of that nature. Maybe you could ask the Pharmacist at your local Drug Store what he/she recommends as the best OTC drug or natural Home Remedy.

Ice is a very good home remedy for cold sores. Rub ice on the infected skin for few minutes, repeat this every hour. Apply a tea bag for few minutes on the blisters, repeat this every hour. One can also consider pressing a warm tea bag on the blisters for approximately 30 minutes. Applying Witch Hazel on sores will give you some relief. Dip your moist index finger in powdered common salt and press the sore for 30 seconds using this index finger. Gently rub aloe vera gel or oil on the sores. Lemon balm extract helps to reduce symptoms and speeds up healing.
Avoid acidic and salty foods. Foods such as chocolates, peanuts, grains, peas, seeds, oatmeal and whole-wheat are high in arginine, therefore they should be restricted. Avoid tea and coffee. Eat vitamin rich diet. Your diet must include vitamin A, C and E. Zinc and iron are also necessary. Include garlic in your diet. Eat fresh food with high antioxidants and high complex carbohydrates. Avoid processed food. Eat lots of fruits and green leafy vegetables.

When I feel one coming on, When your lip gets warm and kind of itches spray a little hairspray on your finger and rub it on the spot where the cold sore is coming up. It usually keeps it from getting any bigger. Also putting ice on it will help the swelling.

it is going to hurt but it is going to go away. Go in the kitchen and pour salt on it, the salt is going to burn out the infection that causes the cold sore and the sore will disapear within a couple hours of two - three treatments

If it just started put ice on it till its numb, do it a couple times and that's all I know to do. If you had some over the counter stuff like camphor oil or even Vick's. Good luck!
