They need something that justifies their intolerance and bigotry, so condemning gays with the Bible is an excellent way to satisfy them.
Remember, it was Rev. Jimmy Swaggart who said on TV that he would kill a gay man and then tell God that the man died. So there we have a TV preacher using God to justify murder ("thou shalt not kill") and then lying about it (lying is also considered a sin in the New Testament.)
As we all know, Rev. Swaggart is the last person who should be preaching about anybody else's sexual experiences.
Here is the transcript of Rev. Swaggart's statement, with a video link:

In both the Old and New Testaments (Leviticus and Romans, respectively), homosexual conduct is specifically condemned as highly sinful.
This does not mean that Christianity or Christians condemn homosexual people, however. The old "hate the sin but love the sinner" mentality is at work there.
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops several years ago issued a treatise which said that people with homosexual urges are to be treated with the same dignity and respect that we would treat anyone else.
But homosexual conduct is morally illicit in Catholic teaching and in the teachings of every other Christian religious denomination.
Homosexual conduct is sinful, basically, because it goes entirely against God's natural order for humanity. The Book of Genesis specifically says that God created humans (and all other animals) male and female.
Male and female are sexually complementary and compatible -- that's the way God designed us. Any sexual act that conflicts with that divine design cannot enjoy any moral sanction whatsoever.
The Catholic Church is silent on what causes some people to have homosexual urges -- those causes are for the sciences to determine.
But regardless of the causes, homosexual conduct is something to be avoided through prayer, through perseverance, through faith, and if necessary, through sexual abstinence.

Being a homosexual isn't a sin because it's something you can't help, BUT living a homosexual lifestyle is a sin. It's pretty much the same as being an alcoholic. Some people have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism but that doesn't mean that being an alcoholic is ok.
I understand this subject because I myself am a Bisexual and have had to learn to suppress my Lesbian tendencies.

Homosexuals are also frowned upon by the Jewish and Muslim religions as well. It is a tragic part of the human race - what is not the norm - is hence abnormal. What isn't understood is considered not good. It is impossible to argue the issue with people who are narrow minded enough to accept it as truth.

Sorry I can not answer...because to tell you the truth I would get deleted, So I must be a good boy and be politically correct, and go with what Yahoo Q&A say I can or can not say, not what my religion or Bible says. The idea of free speech is a myth here as you must know by now...oops that might have been to much there...we will see if I am aloud to even say that.

It relies upon on who you ask. in my opinion, I also have a puzzling time accepting prepared faith and a lot of of the attitudes of people who participate. in accordance to what I evaluate legend, Jesus Christ mingled with whores and lepers and became into all accepting, no exceptions. So if Jesus is the son of God, would not it stand to reason that any one, in spite of sexual orientation, epidermis shade, gender, disease, wealth, or the different ingredient may be conventional, enjoyed, welcomed and revered via God himself? Being a Christian is an interior deal. do no longer enable others and their narrow-minded perspectives make it easier to be attentive to in case you're "allowed" to be considered one of God's toddlers. in case you experience your courting with God is important and considered one of mutual appreciate then this is stable sufficient for me and could be stable sufficient for absolutely everyone. Frankly, if somebody would not like somebody else simply by fact of sexual orientation, this is THEIR issue and not yours. think of donning around hatred for those you do no longer understand and for those, whose footwear you have by no potential walked in! How unhappy. The God i be attentive to would not frown upon absolutely everyone.

In the old testament, the book of Leviticus calls homosexuality an abomination. There is also the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, cities that were so sinful and perverted that God completely destroyed them. In the new testament, the book of Romans, chapter 1 talks about this sin, as well.
In God's word, this is a very serious sin.

yes, the Bible clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination to God.
but your premise is very wrong.
true Christians do not frown upon homosexuals but frown upon their sin.
God loves homosexuals as much as He loves any of us, as we are all sinners, but He hates their sin as much as God hates any sin.
BIG difference.
