Some background. I met my current boyfriend about a year ago kissed and never saw each other till this past september again. We have been dating ever since. I am 25 and he is 37. I am white and he is black. I dont really have much of a problem with the age as we are in similar places in our life and i dont mind the race thing. However, my family will NEVER approve. .... Any advice on how to break it to them... ???

Before you break the news and your family turns their back on you( if they turn their backs on you) you better make sure that this is love and not lust! Make sure this is the man you want and plan to spend the rest of your life with. You better be on the same page about EVERYTHING!!! cause if your family flips out, it won't matter because you are with the love of your life and the man of your dreams. Approval or dis approval of your family this man will be there no matter what...... Life is to short to live for others live your life and love who you want.

Keep him it is your life after all and you don't want to hate your parents if they make you lose him. Im wondering if you found him so great, don't you think maybe your parents will like the same qualities in him? You will never know until you introduce him. Don't tell your parents his race, just take him to a dinner or something on nuetral ground like a restaurant. that way if you don't mention his race they will really know that race is not an issue and if they find a problem they can just leave the restaurant and your man wont feel uncomfortable like in their house.

I say hey! if you are totally comfortable with dude and the love you feel for him is real, and the love that he has for you is just as real, live yo life chick love has no color, and true enough your family will not like it, but out of respect for you they will just have to accept, and take things as they are; feel me? oh and as far as telling them be very blunt, and serious get your point across, dont sugar coat anything( hes the one u want) type of situation.

What people have to realize is that it 2007 and many people are dating people who aren't in the same race as they are and as far as age we all know it just a number and beside you are a grown women going out with a grown man so what the problem with that.

race is a thing of the past, ancient history, we are all human beings.. just go with YOUR feelings, families who object at first usually come around and understand your love.remember he is with you, not dateing your whole family. he probably has some family issues on his side also.so do as you please..it is your life, and we know life is too short anyway.

Do you love him? Do you want to spend the rest of your life with him? Is he the one? Is he good to you? if they answer to all of these is YES, then you tell your parents you found a man who takes care of you, loves you with all his heart, and shows you so much respect and admiration. Tell them that he is one of a kind and that you feel sooo strongly for him, and that you have NEVER felt so happy in your life. I think if you truly emphasize how happy you are, how unique he is, and how positive he is on you, then your parents will be soo impressed.
