Go to a GP practice in Scotland and get the practice nurse to change your dressing. It shouldn't take long and would be better than leaving it for the extra five days.
Good luck.

Having the dressing done in Scotland (or any UK surgery) depends on how soft the reception staff and nurse are as otherwise people would expect all sorts of services on away weekends, summer hols etc - usually only emergencies are catered for. If it is your old surgery or family belong it shouldn't be a prob.

Otherwise go to chemist and buy some gauze and tape and maybe some Inadine (iodine in gauze) in case your toe-bed is stil moist. Wash in saltwater (boiled, cooled, salt added) and put a piece of Inadine (remove white paper from both sides), wrap gauze around toe and tape.

If still v painful, red, swollen or oozing you will need to get antibiotics from GP or A/E. It's probably sore now because the dried dressing is tugging.

I have had both of my big nails done. The only thing they are going to do at your follow up visit is look at it and make sure it is not oozing. By now it should be starting to dry up. They are going to take the bandage off and tell you to soak it in benzodine. They sell it in walgreens or any drug store. You are going to have to soak twice a day for I think 10 minutes each time. It is going to be sore for a long time. I had mine done about a year ago and they are still tender. Just be careful. If you want you could get some gauze and redress it yourself. Just make sure you soak it. And for pain my doctor reccomended motrin over tylenol.

I would be for soaking the toe in warm water for about 10 minutes to get the old bandage off. The bandage should be changed daily to prevent infection. and soaking it daily helps. I had to soak my toe at least 2x daily when I had a toenail removed.

and GP can see you to give you a dressing. Take some paracetamol and Brufen, you can buy them over the counter, and yes, you can take them together.
