I think it depends on if you are inviting others, or it will be just the two of you. If you don't invite others then it can be combined as the honeymoon and wedding spot.

RE:
Is a destination wedding really cheaper than a traditional at-home wedding?
Alot of people say they are and others say that a big traditional wedding with all the trimmings is cheaper.

The cost for any type of wedding varies whether it is a destination wedding or a traditional at-home wedding. How expensive or inexpensive your wedding costs will vary based on how many guests you have, your choice of location, rentals, flowers, catering, linens, favors, etc. Your best bet is to pinpoint a budget you can afford and then compare different styles of weddings within your budget. Depending on what you want, a destination wedding can be cheaper or it can be more than a traditional at-home wedding.

An at-home wedding (like a reception in a backyard), is always cheaper. A destination wedding is cheaper than an all-the-trimmings wedding IF you do not pay for everyone else to go to the destination. Some couples pay for their guests, or some of the guests; this significantly brings the price up.

It can be. With destination weddings, you usually only invite a handful of close family and friends. With a traditional wedding, you'd likely invite a ton of people and it will end up costing a lot more. It depends on your personal taste and how simple or extravagant you'd like to go. If you'd like to keep it simple, you should be able to do everything you'd like in a traditional wedding. If you like extravagant, it might be best to pick a few wedding guests and do the destination wedding. Good luck!

A destination is cheaper if you have it at an all-inclusive resort or on a cruise ship. You don't have to pay for everyone's meal because it's included. People pay for themselves at a destination wedding because they have to pay for the whole vacation which includes all meals. You just have to make arrangement for everyone to eat together in the restaurant of your choice. Also your honeymoon is part of the wedding. You might want to stay longer than the other guest or transfer to a different resort after the wedding. Make sure you send save the date cards at least a year in advance if you plan on having a destination wedding. People have to save money and vacation days. Good luck.

It all depends on these things:
1)How many is going (small or big group).
2)What location it is and if the environment is expensive. (Hawaii is expensive. A gallon of milk is $8.00 for example).
3) What all involved in the wedding: simple, elegant, classy, etc.
My wedding in Vegas will be cheaper.
However, my re new vow in Hawaii (which orignally was going to be our wedding) will be more expensive once flight/hotel/honeymoon/wedding package is added up. For everyone/everything, it will be over $15,000.
Some weddings at home can cost 5,000 and some can cost well into 20,000's.

I have had many friends who did a destination wedding, not mainly because of the cost savings, but because of the stresses involved with planning the traditional wedding. They did save money because they had their wedding and honeymoon rolled into one. The destination however just involved the two of them. It would be more pricey if they had guests. I have yet to see an inexpensive big traditional wedding.

Destination weddings are often cheaper than at-home weddings because fewer people show up. Plus, if you make it the place where you'll be honeymooning, then you'll have not spent any extra money for yourself in airfare (money you would've spent anyway).
