He won't look at me or talk to me. We have a few mutual friends and when I'm hanging out with them and he's around he's really quite. The only time he will talk to me is if I say somthing directly to him. He is very important to me and I want him to be happy. We had a mutual break up mostly because he just didn't want to be with me anymore. He said he would be my friend but now he acts so distant from me. Why won't he just be my friend?

It is a common pattern with relationships. You get involved with someone intemetely, you share your secrets, fears and happy moments. If you get involved intemetaly, in a perfect world you should marry a person. I repeat, in a perfect world. Break-ups are a failure of this world. So what do you do. You want to forget about your failure by not thinking about it. If you talk to him, you remind him about his/your failure.

Maybe he still remembers the negative times with you or he just is soooo close to you that he wants to get back to you again and cant say it. Maybe you should take him out as a "friend" like do memorable, and fun stuff. Then gradually he will get use to talking with you and you guys can start fresh

Sometimes it's hard, because feelings could still be there and he wants to really know if he's making the right decision, but when you're still in the picture, it makes it hard. Give him some time, he probably just needs to adjust and really get over it.

Maybe he can't handle being just friends at this point. It may not always be this way. He probably just needs time to process everything. He also may not want to feel as if he's leading you on. Give him time. Or it could be that he just isn't as mature as you.

He may feel you have more feelings for him than he does for you, and he may not want to give you mixed messages. There is the saying he's your ex for a reason. Try to move on ,you keep dwelling on this and life is passing you by. You deserve to be happy also.. smile...

this one is tough. well of course bc he is ur ex he wont talk to u as much but if he said he would be friends with u after wards and now he does not want to talk to you i would just go ask him whats going on say " look i no it is akward between us now but i still want to hang out, is that ok?" he's bound to say yes. Just speak from ur heart.

Maybe it hurts him too much to be your friend, or maybe he's afraid of hurting you. I would say try not to be at the same place at the same time as him if possible.

For some people it is easier to just cut all ties then to have any contact with someone they have dated. If you want him to be happy then respect his wishes and let him be.

he probably feels guilty that he hurt you. some guys are very insecure and they can't handle rejection. find a new man who appreciates you. don't force yourself on him, he will get more distant. give him his space. move on.
