Yes. If you only straighten it every once and a while, I wouldn't worry about it. It's only when straightening your hair becomes a daily, or even every other day, routine. It can dry out your hair and make you lose any natural "shine". To prevent damage, condition your hair thoroughly every time you take a shower and use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners.

yes it does damage your hair. If you straighten your hair every day then you will gat split ends like me. Use your straightener once in a while but not everyday cuz then you will really damage your hair. then you have to cut your hair so the split ends will come out

straightening your hair can damage it very badly, but you can also stop your hair from getting too damaged.
use good hair products. make sure that your shampoo and conditioners dont have wax added in them that will build up on your hair. (thats good advice for anyones hair whether your staightening it or not) you can talk to your hair dresser for good brands and where to get them
moisturize your hair. straightening your hair is drying and you dont want to get it fryed so use rinse out conditioner in the morning in the shower and then put leave in or deep mosture conditioner in your hair and leave it in all night, just be sure to rinse out all of the conditioners in the morning so that your hair doesnt look really greasy by the end of the day.
use a good straightener. be sure that the straghtener yu are using is ceramic. ceramic curling irons and straghteners heat up fast, clool down quickly, and dont catch on your hair when using them, which keeps your hair from getting split ends. once again, talk to your hairdresser about brands and prices.
good luck!

I have ridiculous curly hair and my hair dresser is Dominican. I see her once a week and it stays straight. As soon as they put water on it the curls come right back. I wouldn't recommend straightening your hair everyday though. It's not healthy for black people to do that. Our hair breaks off easily.

Very much so. I always moisturize my hair and wear protecting spray to keep it from drying out. It speciously damages the ends. You take good care of your hair and it will be fine. Dont understand how it can make your hair any less curly though. I have curly hair and mines just fine.

well i've heard that if you over use your hair straightener that your hair might burn. then you wind up with burnt hair. unless you put some stuff to protect your hair. like at night, wash your hair and put some good hair treatment in it.

yes, it can hurt it. just make sure that you don't turn up your straightener much higher than you need to, and use conditioner. and get your hair cut often, that makes it healthier.
