I have been living in Bangkok for five years, now, and I will tell you that May is the hottest, the most unrelentingly hottest month of the year, and the second hottest month is April. If it should rain in May while you are there, you will feel like you're in a sauna.

Five days is too short a time to come to Thailand, especially if it's your only stop on a very short vacation. But five days can be filled with lots of fun. Check out various tourism sites on the Internet, if you want to come as a tourist.

Thailand has a beautiful coastline, and the western coastal areas hit by the devastating tsunami have recovered to a large extent. On the eastern coast, there is Pattaya--but it is a wide-open city filled with tourists. If you are in to diving or snorkeling, there are plenty of areas off the islands around the Phuket area.

If you just want to get away for a few days of shopping and enoying the city life and the night life, Bangkok would be good. If this is your first venture to an Asian country, you probably would feel more comfortable with your five days in Bangkok--but realize that Thailand has so much to offer, five days can't even cover Bangkok, which has in the neighborhood of 12 million people. On the downside, you can get stuck in Bangkok traffic for very long periods, and the air pollution in the city is quite high. But Bangkok has a nice Skytrain system (and the beginnings of a subway system) that will get you to plenty of places you would probably enjoy. Taxis are very reasonable. But if you going to a tourist area, like Wat Phra Keo (the Emerald Buddha temple and the amazing royal complex unlike anything else on earth), beware of taxis that will want to overcharge by not using their taxi meters, and by doubling and tripling the normal fees. But since there are an endless line of taxis in those areas, you will quickly find a good one.

If you go online and look up hotels in Bangkok, you wll find plenty of them. You can select what you want and register online with one. Just be sure that it is near where you want to go. The larger hotels also can tell you about tours and help you out.

One tour I would recommend is the Chao Phraya river tour from Bangkok to Ayuthaya and back to Bangkok. The Grand Pearl Cruises is very nice. I have done it with friends coming to visit from America. A tour bus takes the guests to Ayuthaya, where you will be able to explore the ruins of the last capital city of the Siamese--destroyed by Burma in the mid-18th Century--, and then hop on the large boat that will take you back to Bangkok and supply you with a very nice meal. The ride back is wonderful--and one of the plusses is that you see the Thai countryside, the rice-growing belt of the country.

Alternatively, you could book the Grand Pearl Cruises for a dinner cruise with music played by live bands, in the evening. Very nice.

You still have time to get some guidebooks on Bangkok or on Thailand in general, and plan your five-days to the fullest. Just remember that outside Bangkok, English is not very common--except in the tourist areas.

There are more than ten thousand restaurants in Bangkok, alone. Enjoy! Often, the large hotels have luncheon buffets which are quite nice and reasonable.

If this is your first time in Thailand, please be aware that you will need to avoid buying ANY foods from the street vendors--unless you don't mind getting a serious case of 'the runs'. Drink only bottled water. In good restaurants the water will be safely filtered. Of course, the other liquids, juices and alcoholic drinks will be all right.

Wear only very light-weight clothing that can breathe. I wear light-weight cotton shirts and jeans most of the time. A sunscreen will be essential.

Okay, I know I am 'hovering' here, but I must mention one more thing: frequently, when you need to answer one of 'nature's calls', you may be surprised to find no (ahem) 'paper' in public facilities, and outside Bangkok, the public facilities will likely be the 'squat' kind where there will definitely be no paper. So, I would suggest taken a roll along with you when you go out and about.

I hope this helps you have the time of your life. I first came to Thailand as a tourist, fell in love with the country and eventually came here to live.

I am going to Thailand in March for 8 days. 4 days in Bangkok and then 4 days in Chiang Mai. I suggest you extend your trip to enjoy more of the country.

Philippines is also great in MAY. It's the last summer month of the year. Try Boracay in Aklan or Palawan. That is if you love the beach.

I stay in a multicultural community and that i hardly see people marry exterior their very own race. For all the communicate, I certainly do no longer see a lot of it. relationship exterior their race, sure... marrying, no. What i'm seeing is white South American adult males of ecu ancestry marrying white North American women persons. I see a lot of adult males who're quite often Italian or Spanish in ancestry grabbing up a lot of white women persons in the U. S.. maximum are in easy terms Spanish looking relatively. i'm a white lady and maximum white adult males look stable to me. If different white women persons do no longer think of white adult males are wonderful available for stable seems, chivalry, character, intelligence... they produce different selections. i did no longer desire different selections. i admire white adult males. maximum white women persons who marry exterior their race, up their divorce cost to over 70%... so they discover out they made a mistake too previous due. it relatively is undesirable sufficient they divorce white adult males over stupid issues. i'm a white lady married to a white guy for an prolonged time now. White adult males are the superb companies if white women persons might in basic terms enable them to be adult males. I do think of that adult males in North u.s. have opposition from South American adult males who're extra Mediterranean in ancestry and act extra manly. I do think of the black dude had some relatively stable factors approximately white adult males being too timid these days. on the different hand white adult males are marrying white South American women persons too. This is going previous Asians and blacks. i think of whites are regrouping.
