This question has so many spiritual ramifications that I am unable to come up with an answer-will continue to contemplate.

A much deeper query to ask would be, "How does a question about hot or cold roast beef end up under the Religion and Spirituality topic?"
But, since you asked, I like my roastbeef and cheese subs warm ... just enough to melt the cheese but not too hot to burn my mouth. I'm not a huge fan of root beer myself ... I'd probably wash this down with a Coke or an Iced Tea.

wrong category.
For a roastbeef sandwich to be a religious\spiritual event, you need a Barq's Red Creme soda.

Depends on the kind of cheese.
Sharp cheddars should be cold, so keep the meat cold. If its a milder one, feel free to heat the beef and melt the cheese.
Rootbeer is good, but I like MGD instead.

try it in milk sometime.
it tastes just like a root beer float after you eat the ice cream.

Hot, and root beer would be fine. (Lots of calories, though.)
