These are just a few of the long list of Marines who are considered celebrities. I am sure if you looked throughout the other branches, they have their share of famous people as well. As you saw, Elvis, Hendrix, MC Hammer were listed.

Well other's have answered your question. One thing to keep in mind. Rock was relatively young during the Vietnam war, and so was most of Rock's musicians. We had a draft back then and a lot of Rock stars were in the right age group

Ive heard military bands put together some pretty good rock and roll shows on base. Does the bugalist count?
I was thinking Gary Sinise (sp?), but I dont think he served in the military, just the USO tours.

John Fogerty served in the states during the Vietnam era.
Jim Croce was in the Army or reserves during Vietnam too.

I was never a "Star" and don't play so much any more -- can't hear. But I'm a vet and was a rock musician.
