How fast can you get from Lakenheath, AFB (UK) to London?

Is the tube faster or slower than driving? How long does it take to ride the tube from the closest station to the base into the financial district in London?

I don`t think that the rail network goes any where near Lakenheath which I have driven past several time from London to Swaffham in Norfolk . I would say that car is you best option and around 2.5 hours should do it , however seek other opinions as it is a while since I visited !!.I am now in Australia.
