I am so sorry! We lost our little gray cat about a month ago, and still haven't found her.

We put out flyers, and talked to lots of people in the neighborhood, and looked high and low. I made a few phone calls to people who might have seen her. My daughter told all of her friends at school, because the more people that know your cat is missing, the more eyes are looking for her.

good luck!

Depending on how old she is and how long she's been gone, you might have luck calling her and walking around the neighborhood.

If she was an inside kitty and just got out, she's probably pretty scared and lost. If she's an inside/outside one, she may have gotten a little too nosy for her own good. You might want to check your neighbors' garages and other places that she could have gotten in and not gotten out of. Cats really ARE very curious, some more than others.

I'd contact the animal shelter in your area. If someone brought her in, you usually have about 5-6 days to claim her before they either put her up for adoption or euthanize them. Definitely put up signs in the neighborhood.

Good luck in finding her. When you do, make sure she has a collar on or a chip implanted by your vet so you can find her if it happens again.

How long has kitty been missing? I have several suggestions:

#1: Was Kitty microchipped? If NOT, PLEASE have this done if and when you get her back. Any vet or shelter that receives a stray will check for a microchip.
#2: Did she have a collar with tags with your contact info? This is important EVEN IF it's an indoor kitty, because.........as you know if she was........they DO sometimes get out on accident.
#3: Put up fliers on bulletin boards, telephone poles, at the vets in your town, with the neighbors, at the animal shelter........
#4: Have you put in a notice with the local animal shelter? Most people who find a lost animal will check with the shelter and/or the local vets and groomers before surrendering it as a stray. You NEED TO call the animal shelter and report your pet missing so that if they find her, they will not put her to sleep as a stray. (Also, and this is a horrible fact, but if they find her DOA somewhere, at least you will know what happened)
I had a cat who was about 14 who disappeared and we never found him........ I think he was having kidney failure and went to hide somewhere and die. I was totally devastated as I couldn't bury him or cremate him or what have you............ I really wish you the best of luck in finding your kitty and PLEASE don't listen to the ******* on here who are trying to make you feel even worse.

I just had a cat show up after missing for 2 yrs- in better shape than before he vanished-I also recently had a beautiful black cat disappear after some of my boyfriends' "friends" dropped in and got to liking it-played with it-she disappeared a week later. I think one of the neighbors took in my other cat that showed back up-probably moved and left him-i would check with acquaints

you guys are all jerks, if i lost my cat id be heartbroken. For one if this is the first time your cat has gone out she may not be too far since she doesnt know her surroundings. Go outside with a toy that makes noise she likes and some treats and call her name while jingling the bell. Look in the dumbest places. Look under cars..Cats will hide when they are scared

I wish you the best of luck and I hope she comes home!

Ask people in the vicinity where the cat became lost. Put up flyers. Check in with the local humane society. Post reward flyers at vet offices. Otherwise, the cat will find you again if fowl play didn't occur. Their instinct is amazing. Good luck.

yeah, one time on tv these people said they lost their cat camping in the woods and never came back. you know how they found? this is true! they got an ice cream truck, you know one with like loud speakers (usually play music for kids) and played the noise (real loud) while driving along the road by the woods, the noise of an electric can opener opening a can of cat food or tuna, and the sound caused the cat to come running out of the woods to the road to them, True Story, on one of those Dateline or something Inside Edition, probably a thousand other cats came running out too LOL

Put some of her food and something that smells like you (clothing, ect) on your back porch. Call all the shelters and vets in your town to make sure she wasn't brought in. Make up flyers and put them in your neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods, and give them to the vets around you so that they recognize her if someone brings her in. You can put an ad in the paper, and also on websites for missing pets, petfinder.com has a place for missing pets, there are a lot of them and a quick internet search will bring up several places you can post your cat for free. Good luck to you, I hope you find her.

Put signs up in your neighborhood and in neighborhoods for around a 2 mile radius. Have a clear, preferably color picture and full description and contact information.

Put an ad in the newspaper classifieds.

If you have a website/myspace/facebook, put information on there. Put a flier on Facebook if you have one or live in a college town.

Also, go to all of the humane societies in a 15-20 mile radius. If she jumped into someone's car, she may be in one (or in a neighborhood) pretty far away. Don't limit yourself to your own area!

Oh, if you find a house that looks alot like yours, knock on the door. When my cat went missing, she lived in the backyard of a home that looked almost exactly like ours until we found her--2 months later and 2.5 miles away!

Good luck! I hope you find her!

Do you have a recent picture? make 8x10 or larger - flyer and post it in all the closest stores and gas stations. Go door to door asking if they have seen her. Good Luck! I wasn't lucky enough to find My SassyCal alive but did learn what happened to her 2 weeks later. (and people wonder why I dislike dogs)
The missing never goes away, I had her for 6 years from 6 weeks old...
