Remember Jesus said, straight is the path and narrow the gate that leads to life, and few will be on it. But broad is the path that lead to destruction, and there are many on that path. It is merely fulfilled prophecy that so many do not listen to the gospel, they reject Jesus as savior. It is a hard thing for a person to humble themselves, to confess they are a sinner and ask to be forgiven.

Some churches that claim to be Christian put down other people, contrary to the words of Christ. This gives Christianity a bad name, and some folks keep away from any church because of it.

Well, I still consider myself Christian, even though I haven't stepped foot in a church for years. I guess with all these new scientific discoveries being made about our origins and how the Earth may have began, I think a lot of people are just having a hard time still swallowing all that junk the church continues trying to shove down their throats.
As for the youth groups....ha! The first time I went to one was the last time. Nothing enjoyable about that experience.

All I can say is I'm a believer. (Since you put "White conservative Christian people.) And christianity spreads across the globe. But there's this thing calling "Freedom of Religion" that lets people choose what religion they want, or none. So people choose. Some choose wisely and some choose foolishly. (No Pun towards anybody on that note.)

Christianity calls for each of us to accept the truth of the Bible. That is, we are called to recognize that we are sinners and in need of forgiveness. We are called to accept the gift of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are then called to allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts and guide our lives so that we will live a life that is pleasing to God. Many people today equate that last one with living a life of misery, poverty, a life where we are not allowed to have fun and a life of rules and "thou shalt not's". God doesn't want to "take away" from our lives. He wants to enrich and bless our lives. We can live a life of joy, happiness, peace, fun, excitement, and wealth (or poverty - but experience joy through the poverty). God's Word says that the path is narrow and is not easy. Many people are afraid to walk the path of a Christian because they don't want to give up a sinful life, and they think God will ask them to be solemn and unhappy. Many people don't want to be Christians because we are persecuted for our beliefs. Jesus tells us however, that our blessings will be great when we are persecuted for His Name's sake.
As to your second question, more and more young people ARE going to Christian youth groups than ever before because more churches are offering youth programs that preach the Word of God, but are more relatable to the youth of today - in terms of style of music, interests, activities etc.

A man rejects God neither because of intellectual demands nor because of the scarcity of evidence. A man rejects God because of a moral resistance that refuses to admit his need for God.

I guess the reason is different for every person.
Some possible reasons
-Christianity contradicts itself more than any religion currently in existence, along with contradicting worldly knowledge.
-Christianity is historically the most violent religion ever created
-Many Christians do not portray their religion in a very good light.

Because more and more people don't need to depend on a book about fairy tales to tell them how to live their lives.
