I got pulled over tonight by a douch bag cop telling me my fog lamps were too bright. I'm pretty sure he was just fishing for a DUI or whatever. Is this bright fog lam thing even a ticketable offense? What would the ticket be for? How do they prove they are too bright?

Hopeful,
I drive a jeep with factory fog lamps, there was snow falling as a matter of fact. Perhaps you should stop driving a little sissy car and you wouldn't have to worry about the big mean pickups. LOL you're such a little girl.

Brutal,
I call the cop a douche bag ......cause that's what he was....Cops are just hall moniters that get paychecks. If they were crime solvers rather then rule enforcers I would have some respect for them. You on the other hand can't answer the question so you just insult me????? I think maybe you are the douche bag, either that or just not very smart.

Using high beams on a major / well lighted road is illegal. If your Fog lights are white and or yellow and raised on the bumper (so that they can shine into a drivers vision)the same thing can apply. Fog lights are intended to "sweep" the road ahead of you, not blind oncoming drivers.

Why is the cop a douche bag for telling you your fog lamps are too bright? Do you get called a douche bag for doing your job? I bet you get called one anyway, that's why you're bitter.
If they're too bright, they're a hazard. If you got a ticket for that, which I highly doubt, I'll bet it was more for your attitude. I hope you keep that attitude for the judge, good luck in court.
**You're such a big man to pick on hopeful. She's not the sissy whining about a non-ticket.**
*Well, at least I taught you to spell "douche". lol. You are very entertaining. You're so worked up! You can give it but not take it apparently. Good luck. :o) *

No sympathy from me, either. Most people who run bright fog lights aren't using them as fog lights but as auxiliary driving lights, which aren't allowed. How can they tell the difference? No fog, and you can't drive above a certain speed if you have them on. Even if they ARE fog lights, once you turn them on you can get stopped if you go too fast. Like over 40. They can measure how far your lights are off the ground and bust you for that, too.

I have seen fog lights that were brighter than the headlights and then you get those morons who put the super bright lamps in both sets of lights and it's a wreck waiting to happen. If there isn't fog or snow you have no business blinding others with them! Especially if you are in one of those huge pickups and ride my bumper of my little car and blind me!! I hope he throws the book at ya.

It depends on what State you are in and the weather conditions.
I was pulled over on my motor cycle one time for "Abrupt maneuvering" and NOT ticketed. He was a newbie looking for a violation of some type. His pardner stood behind him observing. When I opened my seat for my documentation I was very careful, explaining every move I made as i made it S-L-O-W-L-Y...
the Young Cop asked me why I did it that way and i told him I was afraid he might shoot me. Well, I was! His buddy was dying holding back and I grinned like a monkey. His face was really red when he dismissed me and left.
Have you ever been blinded by fog lights? They tend to hurt my eyes.

you'll melt the housing and likely fry the electronics and it wouldnt also be too a lot brighter if each thing does carry jointly. change out to new ellipsoid fogs and put in some osram silverstars, verify its osram and not in any respect the sylvania that you'll be able to p.c.. up at walmart or pepboys.

You have to go to the vehicle code for where you live and look it up. Possible violations are color, number, where mounted, and when used. I was talking to one of the local officers the other day when a truck passed us. The officer asked me if I could tell how many "sets" of lights the rig had. Apparently in the state of WA you can only have one extra set of lights. (I wouldn't have known that...)

I agree with cat. Fog lights are a hazard, but to my knowledge they're not against the law. Maybe they should be though.

Well, if you got a ticket, it must be a ticketable offense. Hey, here's an idea. Why not check with your local police department?
