There was a football pool for the super bowl at my office. I said to myself, would Jesus walk over there and place a bet on a square. I thought, no he wouldn't.

hope not, I make my living playing online poker.
-Do you really care what other people think? I sure don't. I only care if I think it is a sin (which I don't). I have played live poker a few times, but I do not like it. It is not easy for me because I have often won money from people that I knew couldn't afford to lose it. So I stopped playing live poker, it was easier to do it online where I didn't have to look the poor guy in the eye as I took his money. But what I realized is that these people will lose their money anyway even if I am not the one to take it. They are going to lose it gambling on something else, or lose it gambling against the person that took my seat. Sure, I feel bad that I make my living off another's addiction, but that is what LIFE IS!!!! The strong survive, the weak do not. I m no different from someone that makes his living selling cigerrettes, alcohol, guns, or life insurance. That is democracy.

The problem is that it may become an addiction for some, which is why most church-goers frown down on it. If you are not gambling away your life savings and whatnot, I think you are fine. That's why the lottery is called poor tax. People who do not have money to spend on it, do so perpetually.

I honestly don't see how there could be anything wrong with it. As long as you keep it under control, you aren't hurting anyone, or interfering with anyone's right to peacefully exist.
People have preached the "gambling is a sin" line to me since I was about 9. I, for the life of me, can't see why an all powerful God would care about things so trivial.

Depending on your religion if it is a sin or not. But beware, when you´ll start being addicted, you can lose a lot more then only money.
