Hi Susan...actually there are some breeds of cats who naturally like water such as the Turkish Van (also known as the "swimming cats"-- see http://www.swimmingcats.com/ ) and exotic cats such as Bengals and Savannahs.

I know not all cats hate water. I have had 2 cats that loved to get into the bathtub when I would be in it.

Some Cats actually like water. I breed Savannahs and most Savannah Cats actually like water. I often fill the tub up a little bit so they can play. They will jump right in and splash each other

As a long-time multiple cat owner, I can tell you for certain, they're not very crazy about water if they're being given a bath, but some of them like to play in it and can get mesmerized by the drip of a bathtub. As with most things cat, they want to be in control.
One of mine walks around the yard with me when I water the plants, running under the hose and trying not to get wet. Go figure!

Nope, mine likes to bathe in his water dish. He actually only drinks the water off his paws, switching them in and out. He splashes all over the place, it was so bad, I had to put a shower curtain liner down so he wouldn't warp the wood. Now he does not like being squirted with the water bottle when he's bad, but that's more he knows he's in trouble, has nothing to do with the water, he takes a few shots at a time, lol.

I was just given this stray cat 2 months ago and she loves the water. She jumps in the shower with me and plays in the tub when I get out. I really think I could bathe her and she would not mind it at all.

Nope, many years ago i had a cat that i would take for walks using a leash. He loved to walk right into puddles instead of going around them. Also, many cats will play with running water such as from a faucet.

Not all cats hate water. My youngest is two. When he was small, he'd jump in the bathroom sink and paw at and drink the water coming out of the tap.
