I've tried the cat deterrents mentioned - never had much success. If you really love this little guy, the usual answer is you have to adjust how you're living. Try tying the curtains back if possible. Or try giving him something else to concentrate on and play with. Cats, especially young ones need something to entertain them You might want to get him some soft toys that he can put in his mouth and grab with his claws.
I was very successful with one of those corrugated cardboard cat scratchers that you can just put on the floor. Or try one of those cat house contraptions that he can climb on. Some people use a spray bottle of water to deter them. Personally, I always felt bad about that and thought it was a little on the abusive side.
Good luck!

Pets do need training as to appropriate behaviour. Cats do love climbing curtains! Mainly to look outside or sit in window. I still have to deter mine at times. Having a place where cat can sit and look out the window, curtain pulled aside to safety, helps.
Make sure you fix up a cat window. They love to sit and watch or sleep in the sunshine. Mine sleeps on top of the cable box on the tv stand in front of window. I keep the curtain pulled out of her way during the daytime and sunshine.
You have to catch the cat in the act. Use a firm tone and let her know what she did is bad. Maybe put her in a safer spot for kitty time out. Keep at it. Once you fix up a cat window take her there and encourage her to use just that window. Stay calm but firm about removing her from messing with curtains and taking her to her window. Maybe some kitty treats to enjoy at her window.
May take awhile but should work.

My kitty used to do this, and tying back the curtains doesn't help.
How much attention do you give kitty? Sometims, they're just trying to get you to run over so they can meow and beg for attention. Buy a couple kitty toys, or make one, something as simple as an empty paper bag will keep them amused for hours.
If they continue still, use some authority. The best way I've found it to pick them up and tap them LIGHTLY on the nose with your finger, and firmly say 'No.' (No yelling, it scares kitty)

Nix the curtains and buy yourself some blinds. The vertical kind work best. They'll separate the horizontal type and bend the aluminum to see out, and the pretty ones that are attached by cloth...well, I have a hole chewed in those. Go for the vertical ones.

what i did for mine when they did that was it sounds mean but it worked for me is when they are on the curtin take and swing it in to the wall they will hit it might take a few times but they will soon stop but you do not have to do it hard lightly just enough to let them know just pull it back a little ways and let it go there body weight will make them hit the wall you do not have to put any force in to it at all
