Does this music glorify God? Then, yes. Go ahead. Does it blaspheme God and/or His word? Then, obviously, no. You need to stop because even if you were in the confines of your own bedroom with just headphones on, YOU would be allowing God's name to be cursed and made fun of. If you are listening with other people around, then you are allowing His name/word to be mocked in front of them, letting them know that it is ok. If they are a believer, you are leading them to sin. If they are a non-believer, they are looking at you as a hypocrite. Think about the message in the music and the intent of it. I know it is hard to give up something that you love, but Jesus sacrificed His very life for you. This one little sacrifice would be a little, "Thank You" to Jesus.

Well I think it is definitely not ok. You may think it doesn't effect you but it does. You can't listen to the music and completely block out all the lyrics. You still hear them with some small part of your mind. As a Christian you are called to mentally dwell only on good things. Is everything LOG says clean? i don't think so. If you look around hard enough you can usually find a good, clean band that has a similar music style to other secular bands. Try listening to Power FM (an excellent Christian rock station) online at the below web address. You just might find something new you like. Same goes for your friends.

Honestly (I am a Christian), I think the the language and all...isn't really good. The tunes are. When I became a christian, it was hard to not give up the music but change, because the words didn't appeal to me any more. I was happy to find what an awesome selection of music they have out there. Pillar is now a fave but there is tons of music that is good to my ears and to my spirit glorifying God with it. You can go on different radio sites and check them out...

Just to look and listen to the bands.

For whatever kinda music you like there is a band that has the same kinda of sound with God in the center, and that is good. Music is an important part of us, I am glad that it's more than just old gospel songs, but I like most them too, it's just what mood we are in to what we want to hear at that time.

Sorry, but in all honesty I do know who that band is as I am an old fogie, however there are groups that I like from when I was a kid and I turned out alright. It seems that some can be over critical and you just need to be careful and make sure that this music that you are listening to does not desensitize you from the Lord. I feel that music of all sorts can be ok if you can really hear all the words and understand what the message really is in order to make better judgements.
So listen away but be careful.
Hope that helps.

It would be OK for a Christian to listen to bolts in a blender as long as it is done to the Glory of God. Purity in faith does not dictate musical style, it dictates what should be in the music, the basic message of the music. It is possible to have absolutely mellow songs which glorify satan and go against what God has told us, while it is possible for loud obnoxious punky music to be a form of worship. God created music, ALL types of it, and he will honor any of it ginen to Him in sincerity. Dont let fuddy-duddies of any type tell you what style of music God likes. At the same time you should not be listening to music which does not edify you and lift up worship to God. There is a lot of heavy metal and Rap which has a message which goes against everything Godly. Stick with, and support, bands with Godly messages.

As for anything we do, I think the better question would be:
If we could SEE Jesus watching what we are doing, would we be doing it?
If the answer to that question is "no", then that should be the guide. God sees our hearts. If we are not sinning in how we are doing something, in what we are doing, or in causing others to sin as a result of what we are doing, then that is what is important here. The Bible does not say not to listen to music. It tells us to glorify God by the way we conduct ourselves. If you are not bringing dishonor in how you conduct yourself, in WHATEVER you are doing, then I believe you are not sinning. I have seen many Christians with raised hands in praise to God, tears streaming down their faces in church services, and then after church, they flip off another driver, yell abusively at their spouse and kids, or display a selfish attitude. Sure, God is watching them doing something that glorifies Him while they are in church, but He already sees their heart and knows what they are about to do afterwards. He knows their actions are not sincere. I am a Christian, and I have experienced this, so please know that I am not attacking Christians - I AM one. I am only saying that it is our hearts and motives that God looks at more than our deeds. Hope this helps.

I listen to all sorts of music. I go to church and I am also Christian. Music is music. Music is also beautiful. I guess what I am really trying to say is no matter what you listen to someone is always going to find something bad to say about it. I don't know how old you are, but when I was younger there was a christian group called Stryper. My mom was all for my sister listening to it as well as me until she found out that their next album was not going to be religious.

Lamb of God has a lot of christian elements in their music. having talked several times with the lead of the band, they're not satanic or anything like that.
listen to what you want - it's not like you're going to go out and killa police man because you listened to "cop killer" by NWA, after all.

Pedro, what is your conscious telling you and what is your heart saying. Regardless of what anyone thinks or says it is your conscious and heart that matters. The bible doesn't speak much about music, but God must love music, for the bible says that David danced with all his might and Miriam clapped her tambourine. God has Angels that sing out in praise. Ask your self, would God like it? Most of our everyday decision making is conscious based. Good Luck.

My son is struggling with this right now, he likes the beat to this music. All I can tell you is that what goes in can and does affect you whether you believe it or not, check out the words to the lyrics http://www.darklyrics.com/l/lambofgod.html
Bottom line, if you're not personally convicted about this, go ahead and listen to it. If and when you are convicted, you'll stop then. Peace :-)
