Why should I believe that Jesus is the Messiah? Why not my neighbor? He contributes to charity. Seriously.

Reading some of these answers, it's clear to me that many of you are giving me non-educated, I-just-follow-my-religion-and-the-bible answers. I don't want to hear, "he died for my sins." I wasn't ****ing alive then!

Would your neighbor pay off your debt for you.? Can your neighbor forgive you of youir sins? Can your neighbor die and be ressurected again and by that defeat Satan, Death Hell, and the Grave? Is your neighbor the Son of God, sinless and without spot?

Jesus is the only person who has fulfilled all of the messianic prophesies of the ancient Hebrew scriptures. I think that a better answer to your question may be found by comparing Christian beliefs to other religious beliefs. Most religions primary focus is to teach the followers how to reach the next plane of existence, whether it be heaven or nirvana or whatever. In short we are seeking a god figure or seeking to be a god figure. Christianity is the only religion I know of that teaches that God seeks us. Not only did Jesus come to Earth in the form of a common man, but he endured great pain and offered up his life as an atoning sacrifice so that we could join him in Paradise. He gave of himself freely and completely just to have a loving relationship with us. This is the only religion that teaches that the only thing greater than God is his love for his creation.

Cause Jesus ascended toward Heaven like a gentle balloon. Ain't that proof enough?
Then when he was out of sight he zoomed to Heaven with his earth body. That is a miracle.

He is now the only one in Heaven with a real tangible earth body, and he kept it along with the clothes as a souvenir.

If you need any further proof that he is the messiah, what's wrong with you, that's all I can say.

"If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him" (John 10:37-38).
"The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him" (John 3:2).

Add to this the (very) simple fact that Jesus alone fulfilled the prophecies of the Messiah written down well before He was born (and it isn't like one can pick 'n' choose his place of birth, family lineage, etc.) The curious thing is that one of those prophecies is that it could not be fulfilled after Jesus was born:
"The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall be the gathering of the people" (Genesis 49:10). "Shiloh" is the Messiah, the "sceptre" is the self-rule of Judah. Shortly after Jesus was born, Rome asserted total control over Judah, eliminating the sceptre from it. No one born after that point even can be King and Messiah.

Becuase the OT talked about who the Messiah would be, and Jesus met all the prophesis. Has your neighbor?

Because he fulfills the prophecies of the Old Testament. Is your neighbor a descentent of David and born of a virgin?

Because your neighbor is a sinner, just like you. Jesus was sinless, went to the cross in YOUR place; died for YOU; and is now preparing a place for YOU if you only would believe upon His name.

You'll only get one answer:

"He's the son of God and died for our sins"

If you don't believe that, then there is no difference between him and your neighbor.

Only if your neighbor fulfills the OT prophecies, which NOBODY has yet, not even Jesus.
