Sprinkle cayenne pepper around her favorite plants. Works for digging also!

10 months is right about where dogs enter puberty/early adulthood in most breeds. Not only is your pup full of energy and mischief, but she's a teenager and she NEEDS consistent rules and discipline. She'll be happier, more confident, and you'll both enjoy each other more if she knows that you're the boss and knows what you expect from her.

I would stop her by supervising her when she's outside until she learns to stop. It's not the easiest answer, but it's the only reliable way and the only that involves you actually being an involved, responsible owner. Just keep an eye on her and when she heads for the garden, say NO and reward her if she stays away. If she doesn't listen after ONE warning, you go and physically steer her out of it. (I wouldn't recommend hitting her or popping her muzzle or anything of those physical punishments people talk about. That just teaches her to be afraid when you're coming.)F It might help to distract her so she has a choice: her favorite game, or getting kicked out of the garden. Repeat til she gets the idea. Depending on the breed and on her individual temperment, this may be easy or it may not but this is the best way to do it for you and your dog.

Fencing the garden might stop her, depending on how persistent and smart she is. Chances are, she'll just get over it or dig under it. Cayenne and deterring sprays/powders don't work with all dogs. My dogs love cayenne pepper -- it's a treat! And about half of them ignore the deterrents and just drool a little more while they chew. Shock collars are hard to use properly and for most people just result in a neurotic dog that's been psychologically damaged by impossible to predict electric shocks.

Your dog is crying for attention. He/she needs to get out of the back yard and be with you or the person that is supposed to be "leader of the pack". Start walking him every day without fail. do not miss a walk. Make it a routine. He will look forward to his walk and be a good dog for the whole 23 hour before the next walk. This walk needs to be at least 1 hour. Go 30 minutes out and set a path to the park or where ever takes at least one hour to complete. Do not let your dog drag you on this walk. Dragging you is a sign that you are not leader of the pack. If you need to get a "prong collar" then purchase one and use it. It is not abuse if you use it correctly. Purchase the rubber comfort prong covers for it. The collar reminds the dog of when his mother would correct his bad behavor. Watch the National Geographic show "Dog Whisperer" starring Casear Millan. He is the best! You will benefit greatly from his 30 minute show.

OUT of the garden...not off....and how do you know she's not bored ??? did you ask her ??? She's a puppy and she ornery and exploring her boundries...why not tell her and teach her NOT to get into the garden (where there may be poisonous plants) and pull up the plants. Ever heard of a fence...a dog run...a leash, while shes out...ever heard of watching her and making sure she's safe...ever heard of giving her toys and treats (for being good)...it's called being a parent...(even to an animal) a RESPONSIBLE parent...

You can get this powder to spread around the garden and plants. My dog did that because he seen me digging in the garden and he thought he was helping.

Look for this spray, really its for stopping dogs from biting themselves, but I sprayed it on some of the furnitrue my dog started to chew on, it worked wonders. I am not sure if the spray will kill the plants though..

You can get this powder at Home Depot that's not harmful, and it makes the ground stink, and the animals stay out. You have to sprinkle it again after it rains.
