I believe that the Bible contains Truth, but I don't believe that all of it is supposed to be interpreted literally. Some of it is poetry or even fiction.

To study it properly, we must try to determine what the author was trying to convey.

Yes. But the bible has many different ways it communicates with us. Most of it is literal. However, there is also symbolism, metaphor, parable, etc. There is a golden rule of interpretation: if the most literal sense makes sense, seek no other sense.

Also, the things of God are spiritually discerned. Therefore, the spirit of God will guide those who approach His word with a humble heart and wish to understand it.

there are some metaphors, such as "casting a mountain into the sea with your faith" (a mountain is most likely an obstacle to be overcome [thrown into the sea]), but for the most part, yeah!

Yes, especially Eve and her talking snake. I believe that part fervently.

And the part where they were building the Tower of Babel and God got worried they would reach Heaven and invade, and the thought of humans invading Heaven gave him the willies, so he confounded their languages.

And the part where Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, that part I believe hook line and sinker, and it just proves to me that astronomy is false.
Why do you ask?

Also the part where Jesus ascended into the sky like a gentle balloon. Until he was out of sight, then he zoomed to Heaven with his earth body; and so he was the only one in Heaven who had an earth body, and he kept it along with the clothes as a conversation piece.

Yes, all these things I believe literally, and if you don't you are going to Hell.

Yes I do. I know there are a lot of mistranslations and era's made by the writers but God is still real and Jesus still came to save.
