So how does this work? Both teams pray that they win, so does God count the number of prayers and the team with the most wins? Or does God review the spiritual records of both teams and the one with the most faith wins?

I'm an Agnostic, so I'd appreciate the explanation.

When I was in school which was many, many years ago, we never prayed that we won a game. We prayed for the safety of everyone involved and that was simply all there was to it. We would have never thought about asking "GOD" to help us to win a game!! That even sounds silly now!!

I respect that you are agnostic...I am a Christian.
However I don't think God likes public prayer. I'm sure a lot of the other Christians will be mad at me for saying that, but my interpretation of the Bible makes me think God wants us to pray privately and silently.
As for sports teams that pray, I think God picks the winner on skills, but ya never know with God.

God doesn't care who wins. He doesn't answer those kind of selfish prayers. I think it is quite silly the way teams do that....I am a christian who loves the lord very much, but everytime my football team prayed, i thought it was stupid.

You should pray before/during, but not half-heartedly. When I was having Field Day in the 8th grade, I prayed to GOD that I wanted my class to win every tug-of-war contest. And guess what? It happened! But GOD doesn't always answer our prayers.

Our teams never prayed that they won. They prayed for the safety of the teams on the field.

God has given us various talents, strengths, abilities, etc. It's up to US to use what He has given us and make the best of it. I was taught to pray that my (team, self, etc)..would play and preform to the best of my ability.

Probably He'd look at what would happen depending on which team won and who was more prideful, and more determined and many other factors.

sports is about skill. if the goal isn't to honour God, then why would He intervene?

why would you expect God to take sides in sporting events?

Do you expect people who believe in the power of prayer to be able to give you a LOGICAL response about an ILLOGICAL action?
