Yes. Traditionally nun's black habits signified their "death" to the world (their renunciation of worldly things). However, throughout time there have been different colored habits worn by religious orders of nuns.

For instance the Discalaced Carmelites wear brown habits. The Dominicans usually wear white habits. The Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's order) wear a habit that was modeled on the Indian sari that is white with three blue lines at the edges.

Also, some orders determined the color of the habits based on the area the nuns were sent to work. For instance, European nuns of a particular order may wear a black habit, but if they are sent to work in Africa, the habit may be changed to white, due to the impracticality of wearing black in such a hot climate.

Which part of the world are we talking about? Religious cloths reflect many things: devotion, sect, job, etc.
(For both men and women.) There are also levels in each system to tell a new person from another person. Work cloths, and church cloths are different also.
Sorry I can't help - other than suggest web sites and actually talking to the nuns you see.
Our parish nuns wear white, although I saw them in black also.
Mother Teresa wore light blue and white gowns (didn't she/they?)

Different levels of nuns wear different colors today, as well as length of skirt and such. Throughout the ages, the style and coloring of nuns habits have changed as well.

I personally only know f one nun who still wears the full black habit and accoutrements. she shops at my local grocery store. I've seen nuns in black, navy blue, dove grey and pure white. I've also seen them in business suits of a dark color.

I can honestly say I've never seen a nun in red though.

A "habit" is the traditional outfit. A pure white outfit is sometimes worn by a novice, but color is never added because it is thought to be frivolous. A Nun's thoughts should be on God at all times.
