I have had three dates with this guy and he said that he doesn't make a good boyfriend and he would understand if I back out. Is that a warning, or an excuse to sleep around? What is that supposed to mean?

That's an excuse ....that he may need to use if you stay with him in the future.
Example...he may want to keep you, but if something happens and you get hurt..he says " I told you I didn't make a good boyfriend, and I will understand if you decide to leave me"
In short it's called ..Having your cake and eating it too...should you decide to stay with him.
People deserve so much more than the run around.
Don't subject your self to eventually getting hurt.
Find some one that says " I am so glad you are with me...and I will do my best not to hurt you "
Don't you think you deserve that ?

Hey How are you doing? I was reading your column and I think that you should give this guy a chance, get to know him before you jump into anything find out the reason of why he feels that he would make a bad boyfriend. He could be mister right would you want to miss out on that by just giving up? By the way how is he on the dates that you went out on, do you feel like he is boyfriend material?

This is him feeling bad about himself. It is no reason to sleep around or cheat on him. He just doesn't believe he is a good boyfriend! He likely has been told this from a previous lover, his self confidence is likely low. Be understanding but if you want to stay with him don't cheat on him that's just not nice!

For some reason, I look at this as a prophecy or subliminal message. You're basically being told that he isn't looking for a relationship. Either you back out of it or else risk being hurt.

that means that he is a player and is looking to sleep around ..your best choice is to let him go ..don't waste your time with a loser like that ..if you continue with him, he will assume that you are ok with being used ..listen "eliminate the excuses" and eliminate him out of your life ..

Ask him why. He may be warning you that he is a sleaze ball or that he sucks in bed. Find out first before you make a decision.

Sounds like he might have had a bad relationship before and is trying to push you away first before you do it to him. Best thing is to talk to him and let him know that you do like him and you will take your chances with him cause you think he has potential.
