1 cup = 8 oz
So 1/3 of 8 oz would be a little over 2 1/2 oz.

The ounces on the package of cream cheese is by wieght. A measuring cup is by volume. A 1/3 of a cup of cream cheese is going to be about 4 oz. But the best way is to wieghtit on a scale, which you can purchase at any local restaurant supply store or just measure it in a measuring cup and find out for you self.

At the store where I shop cream cheese comes in the 4 ounce size and also the 8 ounce size....so the smaller 4 ounce I believe would come closest to 1/3 cup, to be safe buy the larger size and then you won't be short. You can use the leftovers on bagels or crackers.
Try creamed cheese also on pumpernickel bread with smoked salmon on top open face...it's so good!
