Because if global warming hits full force, your lifestyle is gone.
Coastal cities will flood, first in storms, then all the time. Changes in precipitation and temperature patterns will severely damage agriculture. Rich countries can cope, but it will cost them so much money their standard of living will decrease. In poor countries many people will die of starvation.
If we work hard, starting now, we can make it a lot less bad. That's why we need to fight.

The experts are not totally 100% sure about what is causing global warming, or the effects of it. For me, pollution just isn't a good thing. We need to develop and use cleaner fuels for our energy needs. These developments will bring us out of the fossil fuel era and into more productive and efficient machines.
As for the future, whose to say what will happen. But, if mankind is still around in a hundred years, I wouldn't want my children's children wondering why we did nothing and created the mess they might be living in.

Apparently if all the glaciers melt, than the sea level will rise and drown the land which will basically leave us with no ground to live on. Ever seen the movie water world with kevin costner. Imagine something like. Maybe we could start building floating cities now as to avoid a tremendous amount of deaths If that horrible outcome does in fact happen.

We COULD stop it, or at least slow it down considerably, IF we wanted to and IF we weren't so selfish and short sighted. Doesn't anyone else care about the mess we are dumping on our children? Mankind is doomed if we don't start doing something about pollution of all kinds. Don't want to give up your lifestyle? Better live it up then, because soon we will all be giving up our lives, and more importantly, the lives of our children and grandchildren.

We probably cannot stop it, but we can slow it down. As humans we can adapt very quickly, but other living organisms are dying by the day because, for them, the rapid change in temperature. Soon we will only be living of GMO's, that were developed in laboratories, not farmed.

think about it---if the polar ice caps melted and stuff, we would be in a world of hurt, literally. That's not all Global warming is talking about, it means holes in the O-zone layer, that infamous THING that keeps most of the suns harmful rays away from it. Thanks to Global Warming, Skin cancer rates are up, not to mention countless other diseases.

because the polar ice caps are melting, which causes sea level to rise, and the coastal regions will be swallowed up.
