Well, you yourself really can't do anything to fix it. A loose bracket isn't that big of a deal, especially if it is a posterior (back) bracket. It will probably just bother you more than actually cause issues with your orthodontic treatment. The colored tie that goes around it is holding the bracket in position with the wire, so it shouldn't come loose. I would contact your orthodontist's office and let them know. They should give you some instructions (the wax that people mentioned is a good idea), and note it in your chart so that they will be ready to rebond it at your next appointment. Having a bracket come off is very common, and not highly detrimental to your treatment, so no worries!

You can take some nail clippers and cut the o-tie (the little elastic rubber band) that is holding the bracket onto the wire, then slip the bracket off the wire.
If you are not able to do that (if you have self-ligating brackets, like Damon, that don't have an o-tie) make sure that you are getting all the food and plaque from under that bracket when you brush so that you don't get a cavity.
You may want to find a local orthodontist that can help you out. We help out out-of-town patients quite often and don't charge for it. (Professional courtesy.)
Also, call your ortho office to let them know about the broken bracket, so that they can schedule a little longer appointment next time to fix it.

That happened to me once. It was a bracket on one of the back teeth. We called the ortho, I went in to see him, and the ortho just removed the bracket. He didn't rebond it or replace it or anything.

Put wax over the broken bracket, and get to your orthodontist as soon as you can.
