How long after a guy's mom dies, should you wait before asking him out? Complicated relationship. He asked me out right while I was breaking up and our date did not go well. We still talk every now and then and are both attracted to each other; but timing is never good. About a year ago, his mom died; before the holidays, his mom's cousin started going through the same type of illness as his mom and he was afraid she was going to die, too. Don't think it'd be appropriate to ask him out on a date, yet (especially with Valentines' coming up). How long should I wait? And, I'd like to call just to make sure he's ok...Ideas?

Well my feeling is he would be happy to hear from you. I’m sure all of this has been very hard on him and I’m sure he could use a friend. Maybe you should think about trying to be his friend first, and see him through this difficult time. Then you can see later if it leads to something more down the road. I’d say you shouldn’t wait, but you should call him and ask him out somewhere. You know, at some place you can talk with no pressure. I’m sure he’ll appreciate your concern and friendship for him. But don’t expect too much because he may not be ready to give more.

follow and trust your heart ok be open and be honest ok. im not a guy but im a women ok ive been thru with what youve been thru ok. call him and tell him that you are checking on him to see if he is alright ok. valentines is a good day to try to ask him out

There is no set time and all people are different. So most guys would not compare time not to date with mother dying

I wouldn't ask him out (sorry, I'm not a guy though...) I would just make sure I was there for him, and he knew it.

i would call,just to let him know your thinking about him,an keeping him in your prayers.(I'm not a guy ) I think he will respond if he is interested. Do what your heart tells you.
