We want to keep you another day or two (you were dehydrated but seemed to be able to stand up at that point), would you agree or go home? Keep in mind you were exhausted and your stomach hurt, but you really wanted to go home and shave your legs.

Please note: I already left days ago. I am just wondering what anyone else would have done.

For Dehydration? yes I would have leaved too. I mean, it's not like a car accident or a heart attack.

But hospitals are a business and the more you stay the better for them. Sometimes is a mix of greed and fear, fear of you dropping dead at home and your family hiring and "ambulance chaser lawyer" to sue them fro letting you go too soon.

But let me tell you a real story: This lady was told by her Doctor that she had only few month to live, she stayed at the hospital, was given test after test, she was in a state of horror and depression, she even contemplated suicide, after weeks on the hospital she was told it was a mistake and that she could go home now....And guess what?...The Hospital didn't forgot to send the "Big Hospital Bills".

Sometimes is better to use common sense, and do what is best for oneself. And in case of doubt to seek for a second and third opinion. Never trust a hospital Blindly.

Usually its best to follow the advice of hospital staff, especially if its doctor's orders. They prefer to send you home when you are completely well regarding your short term stay, instead of sending you home in a mediocre condition for it to only get worse and have to return and repeat the hospital course all over again. Dehydration can be a serious thing. When your dehydrated, you get really weak and lots of things can happen.... and unexpectantly. If you were exhausted and your stomach hurt, it would probably be beneficial to you as well as your family that you had stayed so that you would remain under doctor's/nurse care in case something took a turn for the worst.

I feel you on the whole wanting to get home and shave your legs..... been there done that. Was involved in a major car accident back in 2000, and couldnt shave my legs for 3 months due to all the trauma, healing lacerations and abrasions on my legs..... its a weird feeling; and I dont know how guys deal with it!

Hope your feeling better and that my answer/opinion helped some!

Hi. To answer your question, I would stay in the hospital just because I would rather stay there then go home and get sick because you should stayed of in the hospital. If you really wanted to shave your legs, they would let you do it there. Just tell them how you feel. I was in the hospital for various reasons ( not going to explain why ). If you are exhausted and your stomach hurts, that is a sign that you should stay there. An Angel is watching over you, and everything will just be alright. Trust me okay? Hope this helps! : )

I have been in hospital on and off my whole life and it sucks

If I am not dieing I will go home for a couple of reasons when I am sick I like comfort and to sleep in my own bed and I like to be by my self and you can do neither at the hospital.

And for me I heal better when I am calm and get the rest that I need and for some reason at the hospital they like to wake you up at three in the morning to take your pulse

May be you just wanted to be at home in comfortable surroundings

I'd stay. Feeling well enough and actually being well enough aren't the same thing, and in cases of dehydration it is easy to take a turn for the worse without warning.

shaving legs versus getting better? hmmm...stay in the hospital. ask someone to bring you a razor if shaving was that much of a priority to you. the hospital tells you this for a reason.

I would stay in the Dr's care. I can always shave my legs if I'm here on this earth and I am only here once. Get the picture.

Did you really feel that it was more important to go home and shave your legs?

Not having been in your place, it's hard to comment, but it seems like your priorities were off.

I would go home, but its because I have a family that needs to be cared for not to shave my legs (and they will give you a razor and they do have showers in most hospitals)
However, before leaving you need to know what to do to get yourself rehydrated and keep hydrated You need to take care of yourself, physically, emotionally and mentally----

Remember: Doctors are PRACTICING medicine and they are practicing on you........
