I do not go to bars often, just sometimes with co-workers for happy hours. Since I grew up in a different culture I always feel lost looking at the long list of choices of drinks. Most of them do not seem to be in English. PLease give me a short list so that I will simply ask for something I can name and actually know how it taste. Thanks a lot!!!

There are too many drinks to list but there are some choices, in moderation of course. Rum and coke, vodka and OJ or grapefruit juice. Whiskey and soda. Scotch and water or milk.
Whiskey on the rocks (no soda or water). Brandy straight up (no mixer or ice). Beer on tap. Bud etc in the can or bottle.
Just substitute the alcohol you like with the way you want it. But don't let the pressure of peers have you drink if you don't want to. Order a soda or cup of coffee. True friends won't care if you drink or not, just be happy with your being there.

Cabernet = Usually house wed wine
Merlot = Usually house red wine
Chardonnay = Usaully house white wine
McCallum 12, 18, or 25 = Scotch 12 year old, 18 yo, or 25 yo
Rum and Coke = Rum and Coke
Martini straight up = Gin Martini without ice
Dirty Martini = Martini with olive juice
Patron Silver = Tequila Shot
Lemon Drop = Vodka and lemon shot
Mohito = Cuban cocktail of rum, lime juice, mint leaves & sugar.

Bitter(Tetleys/John Smiths)
Lager(Carlsberg/Budweiser)
Vodka(Smirnoff)
Whisky(Ask for a Malt/Double Malt, not a blend)
Gin(Gordons/Bombay Saphire)
Bacardi(White Rum)
Martini(Dry/Rosso/Bianco)
Brandy(Courvoisier/Hennessy)
Various soft drinks.
Basically I can't discribe whether you will like any of the above drinks you will just have to try them out and see.
There are also alcopops which basically taste of sweet flavoured lemonade and ther are lots of these.

Vodka ( smurnoff) , Whisky ( jack Daniels) Bacardi which is a rum. whisky is normally mixed with cola vodka is also mixed with cola, fresh orange, lemonade, pinapple juice, apple juice, many others or tonic . bacardi is mixed with coke generally. enjoy!!

screwdriver, bloodymary, tequila sunrise, dirty martini, greyhound, salty dog, cosmopolitan, rum runner, rum driver, manhatten, cape cod, cuba libra, madris, and of course there is rum&coke, bourbon&coke and all the others that you can mix with coke or 7-up.
