First of all, I want to join in with the others and express my deepest sympathy for your loss.
When my Lhasa Apso died several years ago, I made a scrapbook of pictures with her in them and with us together. It helped me to concentrate on the happy times we had together.
Also, it does help to talk to a friend, but ONLY if the friend can relate to grieving over the loss of a pet.
You can also comfort yourself by reminding yourself that you gave your cat a good life with lots of love.
The grief will lessen after a while, I promise, but in the meantime, if you need to cry, just cry. It's OK. There are lots of us out here who understand and can relate to what you are going through.

I am so sorry for your loss. When my sweet little Gracie at the age of 16 passed away last Oct. I took her to a minister friend of my house I live in a high rise and we along with two other of my friends had a funereal My minister friend even said a few words and planted some flowers at the head of her little grave. So let yourself grieve. I got a few sympathy cards that are just for the loss of a pet. I didn't know about this site then. If you have a printer maybe you could print off our replies. You seem to be getting quite a few very good ones. You will know when you are ready for another cat. Don't rush it and I would suggest a cat very different from your cat that just passed away because you don't want to transfer your felling to the new cat. You will want to learn to love your new cat for his or her own self.I'll keep you in my prayers.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. My heart goes out to you. I know it is so hard to give up an animal you love so much. Just take it slow and easy, reminisce about your cat and all of the years that you had each other. Send a little prayer up there for yourself and your kitty. Keep your mind busy, that's the key. Do what ever you like to do. Take a walk, watch TV, maybe a new hobby, talk to a friend? Just keep busy. You will eventually look back at the years that you had your kitty and will remember so much love and happiness that you gave each other. Maybe some day you could get a new kitty? That is up to you tho, it's only a suggestion. I really hope this helps with your loss, take care.

I wish I did have some tips but I don't. As the others have said, it will take time. The hurt will get easier but you will never get over it.
If you feel like crying, cry. You are going through a grieving process now and crying will help ease some of the pain.
Just reading the other's responses has almost brought me to tears over a dog of mine that was killed two years ago.
I wish I had a better answer but I don't.
God Bless.

Yes a very good one because my cat had not passed away but went to a different country with a relative (it's just as worse). You could remeber that she is in a better place or get a new cat and cherish her life even more so youll stop thinking about her

loosing a cat, is like loosing your own child, its a awfull feeling & no words can replace it, Your cat is in Rainbow bridge now & not suffer,
Keep the memories, like i did when i lost my cat a year ago. I look at her pictures & kiss it, & say, Your in Kitty Heaven now, Your kitty wants you to be happy, It takes Months to actually Stop thinking of it Often, but youll never Actually get over it, The pain Will ease up. Try to listen to some music, & get outside, & try not to sit around, Youll be Depressed more, I had to get outside for daily wallks aftet Mine passed, & your kity would look down & knowing your taking care of yourself, My thoughts & prayers are with you at this bad time,

I'm sorry for your loss. =(
Time will help you to get over it; my dog (who was very close to me) passed away about three years ago. Sometimes I still get sad when I think about her, but the pain is gone now. It took a few months.
Think of all of the good times you had with your cat - don't reflect on anything negative. You'll be okay soon enough. =)

when my mother told me that my 5 years old cat has died, i simply don't look at the body. my mother keep asking me to put it in a proper grave before the carcass getting worst, but i refused.
People might say that it seems like i don't care to give a final respect to my beloved pet. In fact, i love him too much. Too much that i don't want to remember him as he had died. But, i keep believing he just going somewhere for a long vacation. & will return home to me....someday.
It is hurt enough. I'm so sorry for yours too. But things will be ok soon. U will just miss it so much either u has a new cat or not.

I've had a few indoor cats and the ones that got out like yours always came back. I'm sure he will be home soon. Maybe put some of his food and water out on the porch.

Losing a pet is hard. Just know that time will heal. I'm a cat lover too. When you are ready, they are so many cats that would be lucky to have a owner that loved and cared for them.
