Stuyvesant St. is in no way in a dangerous area. It's a tiny little street in the East Village right by Astor Place and Cooper Square. It's between 2nd and 3rd Ave. It's overly hip and very safe and crawling with NYU students. You could practically take a nap on the sidewalk and be fine. It's pretty expensive if you want to get an apartment around there!

The best thing to do is go to the neighborhood and walk around! One block can mean a huge difference in Brooklyn. Downtown, Fort Greene/Clinton, and Park Slope are the nicest Brooklyn neighborhoods. Definitely avoid Bed-Stuy and parts of Crown Heights I can tell you from personal experience. Good luck!

there is no such street. you're probably talking about bedford-stuyvesant in brooklyn, stuyvesant town in manhattan, or chambers st. where stuyvesant h.s. is. pick one.
