You should ask your pharmacist or doctor. Stop in to ANY pharmacy and ask... Don't trust some idiot on here that thinks they know what they are talking about... talk to someone you KNOW has studied pharmocology.

Although it is sensible, to avoid drinking alcohol when taking any medication; it is unlikely that drinking alcohol, in moderation, will cause problems if you are taking most common antibiotics. It is however, necessary to completely AVOID drinking when taking the following antibiotics:
Metronidazole - the side-effects include flushing, breathlessness, headache, increased or irregular heart rate, low blood pressure, nausea and vomiting. Tinidazole is chemically similar to metronidazole and so may cause the same reaction. When taking co-trimoxazole and alcohol, there is a very slight possibility of side effects that are similar to metronidazole. However these effects are very rare and drinking alcohol in moderation does not normally cause a problem. It should be noted that antibiotics may have a variety of side effects that might be made worse by alcohol, for example, sleepiness and dizziness. Alcohol is likely to worsen these effects. You should never drink alcohol and drive if you are affected.
You should always check with your doctor or pharmacist when you are given your prescription.

It is what antibiotics you are taking... The Doctor said the something... The reason for not drinking is if you drink to much you flush the drug out your body, and some of the drugs you take today... alcohol may enhance it or turn it to trouble.... ask the druggist and they will tell you straight up...

Certainly, supposedly they might not work as well but if it's a couple of drinks at the end of the week I know from long experience that it makes no difference and a drink a day has now been proven to be good for you.

No. You won't die from it, but the antibiotic will not work when mixed with alcohol.
