I know 100% that reading the bible is REALLY important. But somehow, I just 'push' the bible away. I don't want to! But it just happens....i know why, but how can I stop it? Please heelp!
And so that i will read the bible JOYFULLY, and not read it just because I have to.

Find a group of people that are reading a part of it. It is easier to read with others. Or find a story or chapter you like, and read in depth looking for question you have, or things you notice. You will learn much simply by looking. There are many good bible study books that can help you find a part you are interested in!

There are study books on angel and demons, Women of the bible who did everything bad you can think of, and even books on how parts of the bible can be compared and support values in harry potter and Lord of the rings!

Start with the new testament. The old testament is sometimes very confusing, and to be honest, skip Numbers all together, its gotta be the most boring of them all. I realize there's a reason for Numbers, its basically a huge geneology, but that doesn't make it very interesting. Kings is the second most boring, but Ezekiel and Isaiah are both very interesting.

Like I said, read the new testament first, it mentions some of the old testament prophets which gets you a little curious, so then when you do read about them, its much more interesting. Also, try the New Improved Version, its easier to understand. The Kings James is pretty, but all those thees and thous is hard to concentrate on.

The same happened to me. I mom is a jehova's witness and when I tried to read her bible something was just missing. I couldn't quite grasp what it was but I found myself putting the bible down and not wanting to read. But when I picked up another bible (after some research) I found myself wanting to know more and more about God. Perhaps that is the reason why you stop. May I suggest you find out the different kinds of bibles that there are and see which one suits you best.

I think we all struggle with this from time to time. God is more interested in our hearts than in legalism. I would say, first and foremost pray and tell God how you feel about reading the bible, be brutally honest with him and ask him to give you a renewed thirst. Things that have helped me are switching it up - going from routine to non-routine and vice versa, finding an accountibility partner, working through a devotional, joining a bible study group, journaling, audio CDs/cassetts, and I've even read children's bibles and bible story books.

A question for yourself: Is the problem because you don't understand it? You're not alone--no one on earth understands it perfectly. If they did, they'd be God. After you answer that question for yourself, I hope you will find comfort in my added comments and that it will cause you to want to read the Bible more joyfully, as you desire.

Try praying before you read the bible. Just pray that the Lord opens or eyes and heart to fully understand everything your reading. Also, try reading slow, don't rush. And read things over and over again. Let it absorb into your brain. I read a devotion once a day, over and over again, and believe me, I get more out of it that way, then if I was to read the whole book in one setting.

Study Biblical Greek or Hebrew. That will encourage you to study the Bible, and give you a greater insight into Scripture.

King James and Deweh Rhemes are pretty ones, try reading that.
or the vulgate (latin), so it is like a puzzle, that you have to figure out.
pray, too, that God will help you read the Bible. ask Him to show you a passage that you will enjoy.

What is really important is to be a good person and not harm anyone.
Store your Bible and keep it for when you will be more motivated.

Pray about it, and try to look at it as a story to start off with, try looking into the story of King David, or Gideon. look for a story and get into it. while you read look for inconsistencies and times when it repeats itself. thats where the depth is
