Do we not count anymore ? We did after 9/11 ! Why should it take a catastrophie before we show respect to our Firefighters,Police, and Rescue Workers ?

I agree with you 100% - - - people are "strange" aren't they?! If the media pushes it, they all jump on the bandwagon and when the "excitement" calms down, they jump off.
My son is a Deputy Sheriff, gets shot at, goes to domestics where a drunk husband has knife, backup for another policeman who can't control a teenage fight. AND ocasionally attends a funeral for a dead policeman who was shot by "a citizen".

Firefighters are not controversial. Everyone loves them. As a firefighter, how many complaints from the public do you receive? I've been a police officer for 20 years and have risked my life on numerous occasions but will never, ever, be treated like you guys. That's not a knock, because you guys are the best. We both have the most dangerous jobs in the world. Before you ask for your own category, go look at the postings in the law enforcement section. More than half are extremely negative. Is that what you want? Don't worry, you guys count. Problem is, you don't generate the kind of hate the makes people post.

Stay safe!

Of Course You're Important!!! Don't' be silly. You're one of the three most important people that are in the city, any city. Firefighters, Police, and the ever loved EMTs. Not necessarily in that order, it depends on who is needed the most at the time of course, but the city would go to hell in a hand basket without you guys!!!

You should contact Yahoo and request a specific category for your profession. I am a Retired Police Officer. I can ask for that category. I am also a Senior Citizen. Maybe there should be a category for that as well. I also suffer from Arthritis. Maybe there should be a category for that as well. The best Hero's in the world don't beat their own drum. You are truly one of the Bravest. Leave Yahoo and look for a site that recognizes your sacrifice and service.

I cannot believe you guys are butt hurt about not having your own category. What you do you want to say? I cleaned the kitchen and played basketball before I cut an old lady out of a car and I was back by lunch time? lol.
I appreciate firefighters too but so does everyone else. And there were cops in 911 too but all you hear about is firefighters. So enjoy the glory you get b/c cops don't get any, don't believe me, keep reading in this category.

**BTW, you don't hear us bitching for a dispatcher category. Suck it up**

They should have a category for you and EMS - maybe there weren't as many questions about you lot. People are usually friendlier to firefighters than cops after all.
Let yahoo know that they need to add that section.

Actually, we should have a joint section. Firefighter/EMT. Majority of us firefighters have EMT training.

But, currently I am at The Hague not being a Firefighter/EMT what I was trained to be. But, UN Peacekeeping Forces.
