medical: I'm thinking I heard it was mutated from something that previously only bothered animals. When cells divide ...sometimes the copy is different than the original... and if it survives it could be a different bug than its mommy. That's what they're looking for the bird flu to do.

religion:
God decided to make the Christ because He knew Adam would make a bad choice and we would all follow him. The Garden of Eden wouldn't have diseases. They were sent out of there.
God likes when we choose to obey Him. He knew some would choose to obey.
We all need to realize Jesus went to death row for our crimes. God is the judge. God already made that plan (the word). In Fact, when people saw the plan (the word) it turned out to be God himself walking with them as a real man, and that man dying for them. For you!

I have heard several conspiracy theories related to this. One being that it is a way to banish gays and drug users form our society.
Another is that it is a virus derived by the government to be used in war.
The final one that I heard and tend to believe is that humans have somehow been infected by monkeys and apes. The reason I tend to believe the final one is because I saw a couple of nature shows.
The shows state that all apes an simians have the AIDS virus in their bodies. Yet, they are not affected by it the same way as humans are. They have built up an immunity to the virus even though they carry it.
Think of the common cold in humans. All humans are able to fight off the cold virus and still live. That is the analogy I would use with the apes.
GOOD LUCK!!!

I think science has basically chalked it up to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Seeing that they isolated it and managed to come up with drugs that halt it by several different mechanisms of action, I would tend to say they are right.

Many illnesses actually originate in the animal community and manage to mutate to the point that they can be transmitted to humans. One of them is polio. One of them is influenza. One of them is HIV.

That list is far from complete.
