They deny the existence of the fossil record, they misuse the second law of thermodynamics, they use completely illogical arguments (like "if we evolved from monkeys then why are there still monkeys?"), and they completely ignore the "slam dunk" of evolution - how DNA works, then quote only one book to back up their statements, and although it is an extremely important book it is NOT a science textbook. Also, they say that if evolution is true then that is like saying that there is no God, which I don't see at all - if God wants to create evolution, who are the fundamentalists to deny it?

Thanks to all who answered but I asked this question for only one reason: to see what other people were going to say. Evolution is a FACT, and not "just a theory" and to say "its just a theory" is to ignore the SCIENTIFIC definition of the word "theory". As to what purpose does evolution serve in modern times, it is an extremely important concept in the treatement of an emerging threat - the "superbugs" like MRSA infections, and without this concept we could not fight them. To those who say "we didn't evolve from monkeys" you are correct - we didn't - because we are biologically classified as "apes" - monkeys have prehensile tails, and apes do not.
As to those that say that a belief in evolution precludes the existence of God I will quote Niels Bohr speaking to Albert Einstein when Einstein made the statement "God does not play dice". Bohr responded with "Stop telling God what to do". On that count, I will side with Niels Bohr. Evolution IS a miracle, and DNA proves it beyond a doubt

To "Eds" - I have been studying the facts - like the fact that the American Academy for the Advancement of Science says that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming, and that all (or almost all) of the Nobel Prize winners for science acknowledge that evolution is real, and not fiction. Sorry, but it is you who are ignoring the evidence, not me. Calling carbon-dating a "myth" is to prove you you don't know what you are saying. Carbon-dating isn't perfect, but to say its a myth is at the very least, intellectually dishonest.

To "David H" - there is plenty of evidence - you simply choose to ignore it. Further, I never implied that I am descended from "monkeys" in my statement, but DNA analysis proves that were at the very least, somewhat genetically related.
And, the statement that you made that said that Darwin renounced evolution on his deathbed is known as the "Lady Hope Hoax" - this is something she made up, but Darwin's daughter WAS present at Darwin's deatbed (and Lady Hope was not) and denies this ever happened, so you are claiming evidence... that does not exist. Please look up the "Lady Hope Hoax" for verification.

Also to "David H" - according to the Linnaeus classification system, we ARE apes, and why would I be embarrassed by something that is completely beyond my control? You also state that I "deny creation" but my statement makes no such claim - please making the claim that I said things that I never did. The universe is a miracle, whether it happened naturally or supernaturally. You need to start approaching this question RATIONALLY, and not EMOTIONALLY.

TO THOSE WHO SAY EVOLUTION IS REAL: WE ARE THE MINORITY IN THE U.S.A. - AND WE ARE RIGHT. Thanks to all who answered, time to pick a "best".

One last comment - to "Print Ninja" - look up CGK733 - we are on the verge of biological immortality and this is the first step.

They are a FRINGE group of people, so why are you concerned? All the fundamentalists together couldn't change one educated scientist's mind.
Knowledge will eventually prevail... we just have to be patient. Lets wait and see what happens when we get a handle on genetics, and can start to do things that the fundies claim only god can do. Personally, I'm looking forward to when they figure out how to shut down the aging genes. We'll see if the fundies reject immortality.

Well...you nor the scientists have any evidence..but only a hypothesis (an educated guess) that man came from a monkey. You deny creation. We say, "God created man and the heavens and the earth. Maybe you came from a monkey since you imply that you did. But I did not! My God created me in the image of Himself. But, that is really no good to you without faith that He did so. You would rather have faith that your a monkey. Well...okay...if you say so, but not me. PEACE!!!
Evolution is NOT a fact. There is no absolute evidence of such garbage. Charles Darwin even said before his death that he was sorry for introducing the theory and was tormented because he did so. You say its a fact but there is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER! Your theories are only a guess. That's what theories are, hello. Monkey, ape.....right down the same alley. As I said, maybe your from a monkey or a ape.... okay, if you say so. You have only rattled a bunch of crap that you tried to make sound intelligent but only sounds as a clanging cymbal...(just a lot of noise). But in your intelligence, you are only mumbling your so-called "Ape intelligence." How sad! How sad to understand the brilliance of life and the universe and all that keeps it together, yet you are so far from reality to not even acknowledge The Almighty God who created the heavens and the earth and you also. But you believe you came from a ape. If I came from a ape, I sure wouldn't wanna tell anyone...I'd be too embarrassed. Quit de-meaning yourself and God. How utterly stupid. I'm glad to be created in The Image of God. PEACE!!!

Paul, You really need to begin studying the scientific evidence that you propose to be pointing at evolution. It has pointed away from evolution much more than it has ever pointed toward it. We do not need to say there is anything wrong with it. It just plain does not happen in the real World. GOD created man and man has been here since that time. Radio-carbon dating is another False Myth created by individuals to give the evolutionists time to play mind games with people like you. I am sorry but you need to begin your study again and study the FACTS not the myth. Have a great evening.

Hmm, God made the earth, so He made the dinosaurs, the dna in our bodies, etc. Oh, and maybe you re descended from monkeys, but I'm a child of God and there's no ape in me. Read the Bible, it'll give you all the answers you need about how God created the earth.

Devout Christians like all other religious people of other religions are fanatical about their beliefs. The fact is that Christianity was invented by Emperor Consatantine of Rome in the 3rd century A.D completely eludes them.Evolution is a hard fact proved by science, but die hard christians, muslims and jews choose to be selective in what they consider as proof. On the other hand i challange any of them to produce evidence that Jesus ever exisited, let alone that he is the son of "God"

Did you know that if we took the DNA out of your body it would fill a tablespoon. But if linked from end to end it would reach from the Earth to the Moon 25 times! DNA in itself is intelligent design. Ask any medical surgeon how complex the human body is, and you will be amazed. You didn't evolve.

Some sects of Christianity treat the Bible as literal. If evolution is true, the Bible cannot be the definitive word of God. To protect this doctrine, its adherents turn to deceit, slanders and outright lies.

Because people are free to believe as they wish.........science has it's ideas, and the world has it's people who are free to disagree with them.
I am of the mindset that if G-d could create the universe, he could certainly allow for evolution to be a working part of his plan.
And honestly......when you listen to some of the one's who disagree.....the one's who have taken time to inform themselves about BOTH sides actually have some interesting thoughts on the matter.

The introduction to Genesis and to the whole Bible ascribes everything to the living God, creating, making, acting, moving, and speaking. There is no room for evolution without a flat denial of Divine revelation. One must be true the other false. All of God’s works are good, great, wondrous, and perfect.
Man starts from nothing. He begins in helplessness, ignorance, and inexperience. All his works, therefore, proceed on the principle of evolution. This principle is only seen in human affairs: from the hut to the palace; from the canoe to the ocean liner; from the spade to the plowshare to machines. But the birds build their nests today as at the beginning. There is growth and development within man, but no passing, change, or evolution out from one into another.
For this theory or fallacy of evolution to be true there would be evident stages of evolution today. You would be able to find species in many stages of evolution in nature right now. For this theory or fallacy of evolution to be true there would be no God. And that’s exactly what evolutionists believe and are trying prove. The evolutionist bases his or her conclusions on human assumptions and reasoning, instead of on the documentary evidence of the manuscripts.

Paul,
I wasn't evolved. I was born. I was known by God even before I was born. God knew me even when I was inside my mother's womb. And he knows every single strand of hair on my head, and knows exactly how long I will live.
