Boy, I caught a lot of flak when I posted the question about winning in Iraq. Thats one of your repubs biggest problems. You put eveyone in the same boat. Oh. I served in the USMC for 25 years and I know about our bold and brave. ie two tours in nam. I'm only trying to say that we took the wrong approch. We did not let the Generals run the war. Now come on, is this a better way of asking the question or not. Surly, someone out there has a good answer.

Absolutely, sir.

We must let the generals run the show and not let them be used as pawns by the politicians.

The generals always know and will work for the military accomplishment of goals and objectives instead of worrying about their re-elections.

In World War II, Hitler had some of the brightest generals in his army but they were forced to accept his lame decisions. If Hitler had let his generals run the show, then the war would have been much more harder to win.

Well i agree with you. It was bad strategy all the way around. I said so at the time. I fully expected we would pursue Al Qaeda to Somalia and hit their training camps. What's worse is, after the strategy was FAILING, no one was fired, and no one in the adminstration took responsibility. Rumsfeld should a gone as soon as his comments about looting/insurgency were proven to be BS. (Actually when he started contradicting his commanders back '02.) Let's face it, if one of our troops had consecutively screwed up, misled us about the consequences etc, we'd be telling that troop to pack their bags.
I'm no lover of the Democratic left BTW, I'm more of a libertarian/Goldwater Republican (in other words anti Religous Right), so Kerry was certainly not the answer in '04. I think had Bush fired his security team, and maybe the CoS, and admitted mistakes were made, and they were his fault, he wouldn't have the dismal ratings he has now.

Yes, let the Generals run war, politicians should keep their asses out of the buisness. We lost the war in Iraq because of Bush's leadership failed, and Rumsfelds micromanagement style. He tried to shrink the Pentagon...bad idea. Also something called debathification....They guted the intire economic, military infrastructure in Iraq...Made some people real mad. What would you do if some one came over here and said your a democrat, and you no longer have a job or a sayso in government....The places of power were ransacked...way to go Bush.
