"if you want a GOOD RELATIONSHIP, it's going to take commitment and dedication to keep it running... if you simply respond to everything that's happening in the spur of the moment, that is really going about things in a very unstable manner. If you find a person who is willing to work with you through the difficulties, and occasional disagreements, commitment, respect, love, and dedication are what hold the relationship together"

My ex of 6 years dated a girl last year 2006 when we broke up. Last year I begged him to come back, and he did not. He threw her up constantly in my face, while he was dating her. They stopped dating and me and him moved in together. I found out in January 2007, he gave her his new cell #. I kicked him out.

Am I wrong, for not working things out? If there was no trust, or commitment, should I have tried to work through this?

Not all relationships are worth your time and energy. You must evaluate the relationship. What kind of guy did he prove himself to be? Is he the kind of man you want to choose for your future and to possibly be the father of your children? If you can call him a quality man who would make a great husband and father, then it is worth working on the relationship. If, however, he does not rate well in those areas, it is time to move on and keep looking.

Perhaps you should evaluate more carefully before you move in with a guy. Don't waste your time and energy on a guy unless he seems to be a "keeper" from the beginning. Don't wait around hoping to turn him into a "keeper."

That would depend on the reason he gave her the cell #, but if you don't trust him then what is wrong with what you did, If you are questioning yourself then you should of had the deep down discussion with him before you kicked him out. We all do things under impulse but we have to remember that we are all human and we will make mistakes. Have a conversation with him and then decide if you were right or not. Hope this helps. Take care Heather

i don't think you were necessarily wrong, i feel sorry for brother but he should have thought about his actions, you could probably answer your own question by finding out where he's laying his head now-a-days, if he's back with her then you probably made the right decision ---- there are alot of things for you to look at though -- did they have a big fight and that's why they broke up? or did he leave her to come back to you b/c you did more for him? or did he tell you he gave his number to her? or did she call and you happen to pick it up? ----- put him in your shoes and think about how he would act or feel -- i think the bottom line is his relationship with her is fresher than the relationship b/t you and him -- he is wrong for giving his number to his ex or at least i wouldn't have went out like that but every man handles his differently--- but in all honesty, only you can decide if he's the one for you or if his good actions out weigh some of his bad ones

I wish you well

No. You know deep in your heart you would just be prolonging the inevitable. Your need for affirmation from him right now seems stronger than anything else. In reality you know that your self esteem eventually will not allow him to keep dissing you. And you know that you need to respect someone with integrity like yourself which he sadly does not posses. Remember the old saying, "You get what you settle for." Hang in there you deserve a good man.
