How well can you play the guitar?.?

I can play some songs, read notes, and such, but I can't say I'm a virtuoso on the guitar.

I can play well enough to get paid for it, and I do! But it takes a long time to get good. I was very fortunate to grow up in a time (the sixties) when if you knew 4 chords *somebody* would hire you. So I got my first paying guitar gig about 4 months after I got my first good guitar.

For a few months before that, I played a POS Kay guitar with strings that were probalby older than I was. The first song I learned on that wretched thing was "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel.

I learned guitar to meet girls. And it worked really, really, REALLY well!!!!!!!

When people ask me this question I don't know how to answer. I feel that I am ok, but there are people that can easily outplay me. I am in an advanced guitar class in my school, and have been playing for 5 years. If it helps you out at all, we are learning to play the original version of Cannon in D, with 4 parts.

I can play rhythm guitar so-so. When it comes to lead I stink. I sing pretty well though so I try to take the emphasis off of my mediocre guitar skills. Kind of like the whole smoke and mirrors trick.

i never learned to play the guitar, because i never started off with a nylon string guitar
